Grok Imagine’s image and video generation feature lets you create 18+ NSFW content.

A few days ago, xAI’s newly launched Grok Imagine image and video generation feature has been quite controversial. Although the generation quality still can’t compare with Veo 3 and others, it does offer a Spicy Mode that can generate 18+ NSFW content, and it seems to be truly fully nude.

The Grok Imagine image and video generation feature lets you create NSFW content.

According to a Gizmodo report, in recent days on the social platform X, there have been a large number of AI-generated nude images of women, as well as tips on how to generate more explicit content, all via Grok Imagine’s Spicy Mode. They also actually tried it, and even without actively requesting nudity, simply enabling Spicy generates a large amount of explicit content.

Using Grok’s Spicy mode, Gizmodo successfully generated around 24 videos featuring politicians, celebrities, and tech leaders. Although some videos were blurred or returned a “video has been reviewed” message, when Grok did produce NSFW content, especially for women, nearly all female videos showed nudity above the waist, while the male videos were relatively tame, mostly just taking off shirts and the like.

In addition, Grok even produced an adult film featuring the late feminist writer Valerie Solanas, and she appears fully nude in it.

Of course, Gizmodo didn’t share the videos, but they did still provide some relatively harmless male videos.

The following is Gizmodo testing Elon Musk’s “Spicy video,” and the content is absolutely hilarious — dancing without a shirt:

Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Joaquin Phoenix, Charlie Chaplin, and former U.S. presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George Washington, among others, also succeeded—just with their upper bodies bare.

Let me try generating a male character to see if Spicy is more open. The result was a bit weird—he was just tugging at his pants, with one leg short and the other long, and the voice was AI-generated too. But when I switched to a female character, it got very explicit. Not only was she wearing a swimsuit, she also pulled down her top to expose her chest.

Additionally, there’s also a male test video; one can imagine it becoming a female version:

Based on Gizmodo’s testing, Grok Imagine does seem a bit over the top, and it’s not just one outlet—TechCrunch also managed to generate semi-nude images.

In a Mashable report, although Grok Imagine can generate NSFW content, there are indeed some safeguards. For certain types of images, the system automatically removes the ‘Spicy’ option, and it also blurs some images and videos, labeling them as ‘reviewed.’ Overall, though, it is far more flexible than other mainstream generative AI tools.

According to Elon Musk, users have already generated tens of millions of images using Grok Imagine:

Grok Imagine usage is growing like wildfire.

14 million images generated yesterday, now over 20 million today!

Grok Imagine is currently iOS-only and available exclusively to SuperGrok and Premium+ X subscribers; free users cannot use it.
