Everyone remembers that a few days ago Trump announced the Stargate Project, the largest AI initiative in U.S. history, in partnership with OpenAI, SoftBank, and others? When it was announced a few days ago, Musk immediately questioned the Stargate Project. The reason is that SoftBank boss Masayoshi Son said they would immediately invest $100 billion into Stargate’s AI infrastructure construction, but Musk said Son doesn’t even have $10 billion right now, so where is the $100 billion coming from? In response to Musk’s doubts, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said, “We’ve already started building the first Stargate project now. You want to come take a look?”
OpenAI releases factory construction progress, countering Musk’s doubts about Stargate AI project funding sources
Shortly after taking office, Trump announced the “Stargate Project” AI initiative in partnership with OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle. Following the announcement, OpenAI also issued a statement regarding the Stargate Project. OpenAI stated that under the Stargate Project, SoftBank will handle finance while OpenAI will handle operations. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son said the company will immediately invest $100 billion in Stargate infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, Musk, who was once part of OpenAI’s management and now leads the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency, has doubts about this largest-ever AI project. Commenting on OpenAI’s announcement, Musk said, “They don’t actually have the money,” and added that he had learned from reliable sources that “SoftBank’s funding is below $10 billion.” In other words, let alone $100 billion, SoftBank doesn’t even have $10 billion.
SoftBank has well under $10B secured. I have that on good authority.

In response to Musk’s remarks, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman directly fired back, saying Musk’s claims were completely wrong and that the first Stargate project is already under construction, yet Musk is still saying they have no money. Altman also said Musk’s reaction is because the Stargate project only benefits the United States but not necessarily Musk’s companies, which is why Musk made such comments. Altman added, “Do you want to come visit the first Stargate project that has already started construction?”
wrong, as you surely know.
want to come visit the first site already under way?
this is great for the country. i realize what is great for the country isn’t always what’s optimal for your companies, but in your new role i hope you’ll mostly put 🇺🇸 first.

Not only does Musk have doubts about the Stargate Project, foreign mediaIt also says OpenAI’s $500 billion “Stargate” project is built on hope and empty talk, because the Stargate project has yet to secure funding, has no detailed plan, and according to insiders, doesn’t even have a clear structure.
Just as signals of considerable distrust toward the Stargate project were emerging, today Sam Altman directly released a video about the Stargate site. The first Stargate building is located in Texas, USA. Altman said that Stargate Building One is large and beautiful. It seems to be a response to doubts about Stargate’s infrastructure.
