In order to download free LINE stickers from Japan, Thailand and other foreign countries, you need to meet these two conditions.

Taiwan’s LINE often has free sticker activities, and foreign countries are no exception, especially Japan, which often launches cute free stickers of well-known anime and celebrities. Normally, Taiwanese users cannot download free LINE stickers from abroad, but there is a solution. It can be achieved as long as two conditions are met, which means you can download free LINE stickers not only from Taiwan, but also from Japan, Thailand, and even Indonesia. I believe no one thinks there are too many stickers, right? Let me teach you below!

The first condition for downloading free foreign LINE stickers

First of all, your LINE account cannot be bound to a phone number and must be changed to Facebook. This is because if you bind a phone number, no matter what you do, the LINE Sticker Shop will display the stickers of the country of the phone number, and there is no way to switch. For example, if you bind a Taiwan phone number, only the LINE stickers of Taiwan will be displayed.

Don’t worry if you have already bound your phone number, this can be changed at any time, but there is one caveat.

After changing to only bind Facebook, all your chat data will disappear, as will LINE Pay, even if you have a backup (cannot be restored). I’m not sure why LINE is designed like this. Logically speaking, if you change the binding method for the same account, you should be able to restore the data. However, I haven’t tested it. I guess it’s for security.

Therefore, for those who pay great attention to chat history and use LINE Pay, it is recommended to apply for a new LINE account, or else give up downloading free stickers from abroad.

Go to “My Account” in the settings to check whether the phone number is bound. If the number is displayed like the picture below, it will not work. You must change it to Facebook binding. Click the binding on the right side of Facebook below:

Step 2 of downloading foreign LINE stickers: Use VPN to jump to other countries

When LINE is changed to only bind Facebook, LINE will push LINE Sticker Shop content based on your current network IP location. For example, a Taiwanese IP will push Taiwanese LINE Sticker Shop, a Japanese IP will push Japanese LINE Sticker Shop… and so on, so you must use a VPN to change your IP location.
