Continue ChatGPT Claude now also has AI personal finance features. Earlier, Anthropic officially announced the Personal Finance feature, which means Claude no longer only answers general financial questions like how to save money; after user authorization, it can directly read bank account and credit card data and analyze based on real transaction records. Unfortunately, like ChatGPT, this feature is currently only available in the U.S.

Claude launches Personal Finance feature! Connect bank accounts and let AI directly analyze your actual spending.
The core of Claude’s Personal Finance operation is connecting users’ bank and credit card accounts through the third-party financial data platform Plaid. Plaid is quite widespread in the United States, and many budgeting apps and fintech services use it to connect to banks, so it is familiar to American users.
When linking, users can select which accounts they want to authorize and don’t have to hand over all accounts at once. Once linking is complete, Claude can read the following data:
- Account balance
- Credit card limit
- Up to two years of transaction records.
After that, users no longer need to export CSVs themselves, organize Excel files, or enter data transaction by transaction—they can just ask directly within Claude. If multiple accounts are linked at the same time, Claude can also integrate information from different banks and credit cards to perform cross-account analysis, such as seeing overall spending at a glance instead of looking only at a single card’s statement.
To help users better understand how Personal Finance can be used, Anthropic also shared several practical use cases.
First is “automatically organizing your monthly spending.” You can ask Claude directly: “Where did all my money go this month?” Claude will categorize spending from linked accounts into categories such as rent, food, and everyday expenses, and calculate the total for each category and overall:

It can also “compare past spending to identify unusual charges.” Since Claude can read up to two years of transaction records, it can compare spending across different months and help identify issues that are easy to overlook, such as duplicate charges.
Unexpected extra charges, subscriptions or bills that keep rising in price, and easily overlooked automatic membership renewals. This is especially useful for people who sign up for more and more subscription services.
In addition, you can also have Claude analyze questions like, “With 10 days until my next paycheck, how much more can I spend?” Claude will estimate the remaining amount you can freely use based on your current account balance and known upcoming payments:

In addition to text responses, users can also ask Claude to generate visual content, such as weekly spending charts, bill due-date calendars, or personalized dashboards based on specified financial data.

Regarding the security aspect, Anthropic also specifically emphasizes the following statement:
- Claude will not obtain bank passwords: account linking is done through Plaid, and Claude itself does not receive the user’s bank login password.
- Read-only permission: Authorization is limited to reading data only; this feature cannot be used to transfer funds, make payments, or perform any fund operations.
- Not used for model training: Conversations in the Personal Finance section will not be used to train Anthropic’s models.
- Unlink at any time: Users can remove linked accounts at any time.
Currently, Personal Finance is still in Beta testing with fairly limited availability. It is only offered to paid Pro, Max, and Ultra users in the U.S., rolled out in batches.
