HONOR has officially launched the world’s first robot phone, the Robot Phone. The device drew major attention after its debut at MWC 2026 earlier this year, and now it’s finally confirmed for mass production. The biggest selling point of the Robot Phone is a 4DoF titanium alloy dexterous gimbal built into the top of the device, giving a phone mechanical freedom similar to a robot for the first time. HONOR also teamed up with Hollywood cinema equipment giant ARRI to bring film-grade color science to mobile imaging, paired with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship processor and a 7,060mAh large battery. Pricing starts at 9,999 RMB (around NT$48,000).

HONOR Robot Phone officially unveiled: 4DoF titanium alloy gimbal paired with ARRI cinematic color

HONOR CEO Li Jian defines Robot Phone as an exploration of a new form of AI-native phones, with the core philosophy being HONOR’s Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI) concept, which enables AI to move from digital intelligence inside the screen into the physical world, transforming the phone from a passive command-response tool into an intelligent companion capable of sensing, thinking, and acting.

Titanium Alloy Agile Gimbal: 0.8s Pop-Out, 360-Degree Rotation Tracking

The most distinctive feature of the Robot Phone is the titanium alloy agile gimbal on the top of the back panel. It is fully tucked away inside the body during normal use, so the exterior looks much like a standard bar phone. With a single press, it pops out and unfolds in just 0.8 seconds. This gimbal system supports 4DoF (pan, tilt, roll, and flip), integrates hundreds of precision components, applies over 60 sophisticated manufacturing techniques, and has accumulated more than 100 self-developed patents.

In terms of specific specifications, the gimbal’s machining precision reaches ±0.005mm, overall dimensions are reduced by 65% compared to traditional designs, the motor weighs just 2.6g, and the three-axis maximum controlled rotation speed reaches 360°/s. HONOR’s self-developed shield steel flip motor delivers a torque density of 120N·m/L, allowing the gimbal to quickly deploy, retract, and hover stably. Official data shows image stabilization performance meets CIPA 5.5 standards, with shake compensation reaching up to 96% while walking, and running tracking stability approximately 70% better than standard phones.

The gimbal supports six camera movement modes, the most in the industry, enabling intelligent moves at 90 degrees, 180 degrees, and even first-person angles. Paired with auto-focus tracking, it automatically locks onto and follows subjects during TikTok live streams or video calls, keeping the picture stable and clear even while shooting on the move.

Deep Collaboration with ARRI: LogC3 Curve, 11 Cinematic Colors, Exclusive Cinema Mode

In terms of imaging, HONOR has established deep collaboration with ARRI, a century-old film industry giant. The two companies have set up a joint imaging technology laboratory, conducting collaborative R&D across image quality, color, camera movement, and professional workflows. At an imaging technology launch event held by HONOR in late July in Hengdian, Zhejiang, Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda was specially invited to experience the technology firsthand and shot a short film using Robot Phone, demonstrating the practical application of ARRI’s color science workflow on a smartphone.

The Robot Phone features the ARRI LogC3 curve and 11 built-in ARRI Looks, reproducing the light sensitivity of traditional film and clear, transparent colors. Its dedicated ARRI Cinematic Mode integrates professional assist tools such as false-color monitoring and focus peaking, and supports the classic 2.39:1 cinematic aspect ratio along with an exclusive ARRI watermark. On the hardware side, it features a 200MP versatile gimbal main camera co-tuned with ARRI, equipped with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and a large f/1.6 aperture. It also includes a 200MP telephoto camera (1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6, 2.7x optical zoom) and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.0, 122-degree field of view, 2.5cm macro).

In terms of image processing, the Robot Phone is equipped with HONOR’s self-developed Yuguang H1 imaging chip, which delivers 18.8 TOPS/W of computing power and a 14-stop cinematic dynamic range. After joint tuning with ARRI, noise reduction is advanced to the RAW domain, combined with 10-bit Log, 4:2:2 sampling, and the ARRI Wide Gamut 3 color space. Video recording supports 4K at 30/60/120fps, 4K low-light recording, and real-time portrait beautification. HONOR also teased that the joint R&D results with ARRI will be realized in the HONOR Magic9 series in the future.

Agentic OS and YOYO Pro: Emotional Interaction in Robot Mode

In terms of AI experience, Robot Phone is powered by Agentic OS, adopting the industry’s first system-level Agent architecture. It debuts YOYO Pro mode, building a complete system of perception, planning, reasoning, execution, and feedback. Beyond understanding and executing complex long instructions and autonomously completing multi-step tasks by connecting different functions across apps, in robot mode it uses a multimodal embodied perception system to recognize gestures, understand voice and environmental information, and even control gimbal movements based on music rhythm, while using anthropomorphic expressions to deliver emotional interaction.

The launch event also showcased mecha car accessories developed in collaboration with Seeed Studio, which can perform actions like dancing and picking up objects via YOYO Pro mode, further expanding the Robot Phone’s playability. Additionally, YOYO is currently an AI assistant introduced by HONOR, and its related services are still primarily focused on the Chinese market.

Flagship specs: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 7,060mAh battery

In terms of hardware specs, the Robot Phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor (2×4.6GHz + 6×3.62GHz), featuring a 6.31-inch FHD+ display (1216×2640) with a peak HDR brightness of 6,800 nits, supporting 1.07 billion colors and the DCI-P3 wide color gamut. The device has a thickness of 9.59mm and weighs 248g, and is equipped with a large 7,060mAh Qinghai Lake battery, supporting 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. It runs on MagicOS 10, based on Android 16.

Pricing and Launch Information

HONOR Robot Phone launches two color options, “Moon Shadow Gray” and “Star Trail Silver.” Pre-orders open today in the Chinese market, with official release expected on August 18. The prices for the two versions are as follows:

  • 12GB + 512GB9,999 RMB (approximately NT$48,000)
  • 16GB + 1TB12,999 RMB (approximately NT$62,152)

Additionally, a dedicated cooling accessory will be launched, priced at 199 RMB (approximately NT$951). As for overseas markets, HONOR currently states that availability will follow each market’s official announcements, and whether it will be introduced to Taiwan is still under evaluation. As the world’s first phone to integrate robotic mechanical structures, system-level AI Agent, and cinematic imaging, whether the Robot Phone can spark a new wave of form factor revolution in the market remains to be seen.
