Elon Musk’s xAI has recently been constantly trying new things, following the newly launched one last week. Grok AI Virtual CompanionAfterwards, earlier Musk announced on X.com that he will soon launch another new one with child-friendly content. Earlier, Musk wrote on X.com: “We will make Baby Grok @xAI, an app focused on child-friendly content.” Although that’s all the information we have for now, since it’s also Grok, it’s highly likely to be a simplified version of the Grok AI chatbot, designed specifically for children, offering a safe and educational interactive experience.

Additionally, Baby Grok might also operate similarly to the Grok AI virtual companion, since it’s unlikely that an AI chatbot requiring manual typing would be designed for children—being able to open the app and interact directly through conversation would better suit how children use it.
Musk hasn’t announced when this product will be released, and it’s likely still a while away, since the review of content and answers will definitely need to be much stricter.
Come to think of it, after Grok AI launched its virtual companion, it shifted to promoting Baby Grok, which is a bit unusual. Because reportedly, after raising your “relationship level” with Ani the anime girl, you can unlock NSFW options—completely the opposite of strictly regulated children’s products.
With Musk announcing this news, many netizens commented expressing anticipation, and believe that now they can consider letting children use Grok. One user said: “Loved by every family.” Another added: “Really needed. I now have to let my child use my own app instead of ChatGPT.”
Of course, not everyone is optimistic about it. Some people even commented that it’s a terrible idea.

Besides the Grok AI virtual companion and Grok Baby, earlier this month,xAI also launched the brand new Grok 4 model., and called it the world’s smartest AI, which, on the “Humanities Last Exam” benchmark, reached a postdoctoral level and, without any tools, could already solve a quarter of the problems.
What’s more noteworthy is that Grok 3 was released on February 17, 2025, which means Grok 4 came out in less than six months. I have to say, AI is really evolving at an incredible pace. In the near future, beyond the battleground of new models, the next big arena will likely be AI agents.
What is Grok?
Grok is an AI chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI, made public on November 4, 2023. Its name comes from the term “Grok” in the classic science fiction novel The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, meaning “to understand something so thoroughly that you become one with it.”
Grok’s biggest feature is that it doesn’t follow the serious or neutral style of traditional AI, but instead brings in humor, challenges authority, and has a somewhat rebellious personality. The official description even states: “Grok will not refuse to answer sharp questions.”
