Insta360 announced that Luna Ultra, a new flagship dual-lens gimbal camera jointly developed with Leica, will be officially launched in Taiwan in mid-June. This product not only marks Insta360’s first entry into the field of gimbal cameras, but also represents the brand’s formal challenge to the main models in the existing market, trying to redefine the positioning of such products with image specifications and operating experience.

The flagship dual-lens gimbal camera Insta360 Luna Ultra is coming soon, with a detachable image transmission screen to upgrade the creative experience
The core highlight of Luna Ultra is that it breaks through the limitation of traditional gimbal cameras that can only rely on a single lens. It adopts a 1-inch sensor 8K main lens jointly developed with Leica, and is paired with an ultra-telephoto lens that supports up to 12x zoom to form a complete dual-lens imaging system. This configuration allows users to freely switch between wide-angle, street photography, portrait and telephoto shooting, with both high image quality and multi-viewing flexibility. The body comes standard with a 2-inch OLED detachable image transmission remote control screen, which can realize long-distance image transmission and control hundreds of viewing angles at will. For professional post-production needs, the camera also natively supports 10-bit color depth and I-Log color profiles, providing higher tolerance and color correction space, allowing imaging workers to process materials in a more professional process.

In terms of computing architecture, Luna Ultra has a built-in AI three-chip system consisting of a Qualcomm flagship chip and a dual image processing chip. The powerful computing power brings more effective night scene noise reduction and long-term night shooting capabilities. It also supports the direct playback of 4K beauty videos in the camera, focusing on the presentation of natural, translucent and high-end skin texture. In addition, Insta360 also introduces a first-person head tracking module (used with an earhook device) for the first time in this model, making Vlogging, life records or dynamic shooting more realistic and flexible.

Luna Ultra’s operating interface has been significantly optimized compared to similar products. When the screen is switched to portrait display, the physical buttons will not be blocked, which improves the operational blind spots during portrait shooting in the past and makes the short video and audio shooting process more intuitive and smooth. For long-term shooting needs, Luna Ultra’s expanded battery module not only extends battery life, but also integrates a set of foldable mini tripods at the bottom, allowing users to complete fixed-point shooting, time-lapse photography or live broadcast setup without carrying an additional tripod, improving the convenience of carrying it out.

In terms of accessories, Luna Ultra supports magnetic fill light and can be used with Insta360’s existing Mic Pro wireless microphone for sound collection. The official storage box provides more complete protection and storage space, and can be used to place accessories such as magnetic light-absorbing lenses and widening lenses, and can be connected to an external microphone, making the overall system more suitable for mobile photographers.
