Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had hinted that there might be a chance to see Apple Intelligence integrate Google Gemini this year, and in the latest iOS 18.4 beta, foreign media have found related clues. So for Gemini users, they can look forward to enabling it directly on Apple Intelligence in the near future.
Google Gemini seems to be coming to Apple Intelligence soon.
According to a discovery by MacRumors analyst Aaron, in the backend of the iOS 18.4 beta, code about selecting third-party models has appeared. From the image, you can see that it will be possible to select two: OpenAI and Google. Although it doesn’t say Gemini at the top, the currently supported ChatGPT is also written as the developer company OpenAI:

Of course, having code doesn’t mean Apple Intelligence will definitely integrate Gemini, but since ChatGPT is already supported, there’s no reason not to add more third-party models, so chances are we’ll see it in the future. That said, it probably won’t happen that soon—might have to wait until iOS 19 or something.
After integration, it should also be a free add-on feature for Apple Intelligence. There were earlier rumors that Apple might charge for some Apple Intelligence features, but Bloomberg says that won’t happen until at least 2027.

A few things that Apple Intelligence’s ChatGPT can do:
- Siri Integration: Siri can use ChatGPT to handle more complex queries and provide more in-depth answers. For example, when you ask for travel advice, Siri will ask if you want to use ChatGPT to get more detailed information.
- Writing Tools: On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, Apple’s “Writing Tools” has integrated ChatGPT to help users write, proofread, and rewrite text.
- Image Playground: Allows users to generate images through descriptions, similar to OpenAI’s DALL-E, where inputting a description generates images with customizable styles, such as animation or sketch styles.
- Genmoji: Use Apple Intelligence’s text-to-image model to create original Genmoji images. Users can generate emoji-like images by entering a description or selecting a person from a photo.
- Visual Intelligence: On iPhone 16 and later models, you can use the Camera Control feature to photograph items and send them to ChatGPT or perform a search.
The upcoming iOS 18.4, arriving in April, will add support for more languages in Apple Intelligence, including Chinese—specifically Simplified Chinese. Traditional Chinese’s availability is still uncertain. Also included are French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean.
If you want to get early access to Apple Intelligence in Chinese in April, you’ll need to change your device language to Simplified Chinese, then go into the Apple Intelligence & Siri settings and change the language to Chinese.
