AI Pin This is the AI wearable assistant product that Humane showcased in late 2023. The promotional video at the time was incredibly exciting—the device was very compact, and could make calls, send text messages, and even have the AI search the web and handle all kinds of daily tasks. However, after it went on sale in April the following year, numerous issues surfaced, such as severe latency and poor battery life, and it received generally unfavorable reviews.

We originally thought it would keep improving, but less than a year after launch, Humane has decided to shut it down, and very quickly—services will stop by the end of this month. This means that starting next month, buyers will no longer be able to use the AI Pin, turning it into electronic waste.

Humane announced that AI Pin services will only last until the end of this month, declaring failure less than a year after launch.

Humane recently announced on its official website that it will end sales of the AI Pin. Not only is production being discontinued, but all users’ AI Pin devices will also be unable to connect to Humane’s servers, and .Center will completely cease operations as well. This means the AI Pin will no longer have any functionality—even making a simple phone call won’t be possible.

And the end date is at the end of this month, February 28, 2025, less than half a month away—quite sudden. Humane also acknowledges that this may be an unexpected change, but they will fully support users, such as how to download data from devices, manage subscriptions, and recycle equipment, all of which are covered.Q&A pageReply in Chinese.

As for why they suddenly decided to shut down, Humane only said:

我們正在逐步停止 AI Pin,因為我們正轉向新的發展方向。未來我們將分享更多相關資訊。感謝您在這段旅程中的支持。

Actually, the sudden shutdown is likely related to Humane being sold to HP for $116 million. This acquisition includes Humane’s CosmOS AI platform, over 300 patents and patent applications, and HP plans to hire Humane’s employees. For related news, please visit Humane official websiteReading.

For users who have ordered but not yet received their items, orders will be automatically cancelled with a full refund. Users who purchase an AI Pin and receive it within 90 days, specifically after November 15, 2024, are also eligible to apply for a full refund, but not if received before that date.

Previously MKBHD Reviews of the AI Pin are also very poor, including long response wait times, frequent hallucinations, inability to correctly understand questions, possible battery drain in as little as 2 hours, constant overheating, terrible photo and video quality, inability to connect to a phone, and failure to learn user habits. It can be said that it has no merits at all.

With AI Pin suddenly shutting down, honestly, this will definitely make many consumers hesitant about future AI products, especially those from startups—no one knows how long they’ll last. Unless it’s from a big company, we also wouldn’t recommend being among the first to try new tech products. For one, most experiences are poor; for another, you might spend a lot of money but not be able to use it for very long.
