As AI advances at an increasingly rapid pace and models grow more powerful, reaching PhD-level proficiency in certain fields, some workers are bound to worry about whether AI will eventually replace their jobs. That said, I think it’s still too early to be having this conversation. But recently, some foreign users have, through Deep Research by OpenAI’s o3 ModelUsing (Deep Research), AI analyzed the 20 jobs most likely to be replaced and even gave percentages. If you’re interested in this topic, here’s the rundown for you.

20 jobs most likely to be replaced by AI, according to AI.

A few days ago, netizen Min Choi shared on X that he used ChatGPT’s o3 deep research feature, which took about 7 minutes to examine as many as 24 sources. The result was a list of 20 jobs that AI will replace, ranked by probability percentage. The post has already garnered over 1.11 million views, showing that a great many people are very interested in this kind of topic.

And with a probability as high as 98%, the occupation that AI deems almost certainly automatable is “Tax Preparer,” with the reasoning that AI can quickly process tax laws and calculations without making mistakes, making the work of preparing tax documents for people far more efficient than humans. AI-driven tax preparation software can already automate most of the manual tax filing process.

The job in second place, with a 95% probability, is: “Data Entry Clerk.” This one makes sense—text processing has always been an AI strength, and with increasingly better image recognition capabilities, converting paper documents into digital data isn’t difficult either. More importantly, AI can operate 24 hours a day.

And this is the reason ChatGPT o3 gave: “It can input and process data at extremely high speeds, and work continuously without stopping; it excels at handling large volumes of repetitive tasks, tedious data retrieval, and minimizing errors.”

There are two in third place: “Telemarketer” and “Bookkeeper.” I don’t quite agree with the former. Although AI can make calls nonstop 24 hours a day, when it comes to selling, AI can at most persuade those who are already interested. To develop potential customers, you still need people.

More importantly, when customers know the other party is AI, I feel it gives them a sense of not being respected (at this stage, of course; if it becomes widespread in the future, that wouldn’t be the case).

There are also legal assistants and itinerary coordinators, both of which have replacement rates above 90%. Those at 80% or above include virtual assistants, transcriptionists, proofreaders, document writers, and customer service representatives. Everything below 80% is where AI is still less certain, such as email marketers, social media managers, translators, and technical support analysts, among others.

What’s more surprising is that translators only got 71% — theoretically, this profession should rank in the top three, since AI translation accuracy is already very high at this stage.

The following is the complete list (Chinese translation version):

Ranking Position Why is it better than humans? Possibility
1 Tax Preparer It can process tax laws and calculations quickly without errors, and it is far more efficient than humans at the routine work of preparing tax filing documents for people. AI-driven tax filing software has already automated most of the manual tax filing process. ~98% (nearly certain automation)
2 Data Entry Clerk Inputs and processes data at extremely high speeds, and can work continuously without interruption; it excels at handling large volumes of repetitive tasks, tedious data retrieval, and error minimization. ~95% (very high)
3 Telemarketer It can place calls nonstop 24/7 for sales or customer service; AI chatbots can handle multiple customers simultaneously, unaffected by fatigue or emotions, cutting wait times and boosting efficiency. ~94% (very high)
4 Bookkeeper It enables faster and more accurate transaction recording and reconciliation; AI bookkeeping software never gets tired, reduces manual data entry, and generates various reports in real time. ~94% (very high)
5 Paralegal It can scan and summarize legal documents in seconds; GPT-type AI can conduct legal research in real time and draft routine legal documents, faster than humans, easily handling many tasks normally performed by paralegals. ~90% (extremely high)
6 Appointment Scheduler Manage schedules and meeting logistics, coordinate across time zones, and handle multiple scheduling needs; the AI assistant can adjust schedules on demand at any time, handling tedious tasks faster than humans. ~90% (very high)
7 Virtual Assistant For routine tasks (email, meeting scheduling, data entry, etc.), AI assistants can work 24/7 without interruption, significantly boosting administrative productivity. ~88% (extremely high)
8 Transcriptionist It can convert audio to text in real time; modern speech recognition technology achieves up to 99% accuracy and is several times faster than human transcriptionists, thereby streamlining the transcription process. ~87% (very high)
9 Proofreader It can instantly spot spelling and grammar errors; AI-driven grammar checking tools not only detect errors faster than humans, but also continuously learn new language patterns, reducing missed errors. ~86% (very high)
10 Copywriter Within a short time, it can generate copywriting content (such as advertising slogans and blog posts); compared to humans, AI can produce human-like text more efficiently and with a certain degree of creativity. ~82% (very high)
11 Customer Service Representative Instantly answer common questions and resolve simple inquiries; AI chatbots can provide personalized customer service, and can handle an unlimited number of customer requests simultaneously, reducing reliance on manpower. ~80% (high)
12 Email Marketer It can instantly write and personalize large-scale email marketing campaigns; AI can quickly optimize sending times and content to boost engagement and surpass human marketing capabilities. ~78% (high)
13 Content Marketer Excels in large-scale content creation and writing; AI can automatically generate marketing content and perform SEO optimization, producing articles faster than humans and reducing costs. ~75% (high)
14 Social Media Manager Can automatically generate and schedule posts; AI tools can monitor trends, craft posts and copy, reducing repetitive work and executing social media marketing strategies more efficiently. ~75% (high)
