It’s really embarrassing for NVIDIA to launch the GTX 1630 entry-level graphics card at this time. This card was originally rumored to be released at the end of May, but it has been postponed until NVIDIA finally officially announced the launch earlier. It is not known whether it is afraid of too high pricing or other reasons. This time NVIDIA did not give the official recommended selling price of GTX 1630. In any case, this card has been tested by foreign media. As expected, the performance is the same as the specifications, and the performance is very entry-level, even slower than AMD Radeon RX 6400.

After NVIDIA announced the official launch of GTX 1630, foreign media TechPowerUP also disclosed the actual performance measurement of GTX 1630. This card uses the same Turing architecture as the GTX 1650, using a TU 117 GPU and 512 CUDA cores. The CUDA cores are fewer than the 1650, but it is equipped with GDDR6 4GB memory, and the maximum clock speed of the graphics card can reach 1785MHz.

TechPowerUP tested a total of 25 AAA game masterpieces. I won’t list them one by one here. Let’s look directly at the average FPS chart. It can be seen that the performance of this card is indeed very entry-level. Even in 1920×1080 Full HD image quality, it can only run an average of 24 FPS, and “Halo: Infinite” even only has 10 FPS:

This performance is not only much lower than the GTX 1650, but also much slower than the competitor AMD entry-level graphics card RX 6400:

Under the 2560×1440 resolution setting, the average FPS dropped to 16, and the game “Far Cry 6” even dropped to less than 5FPS:

However, the gap between this resolution setting and RX 6400 and GTX 1650 is narrowed:

As for power consumption, GTX 1630 and RX 6400 are similar, both at about 49W. GTX 1650 has a higher power consumption, reaching 74W.
Since there is no official recommended selling price for the GTX 1630, TechPowerUP has calculated the five retail prices and performance of US$175, US$150, US$125, US$100 and US$75. It seems that it is worth buying this one for less than US$100:

Even so, if you want to use this graphics card to play AAA game masterpieces, you have to accept that even in Full HD quality settings, the FPS is not high (not even 30 FPS). I would rather recommend buying the RTX 30 series. After all, they have dropped a lot now, and maybe they will be cheaper in a few weeks.
