Since Google launched Gemini AI in early December 2023, it has been dedicated to applying it across its own hardware and various services. It can replace the original voice assistant on Pixel phones and provides AI features that boost productivity in services including Docs, Forms, and Mail. Now, Google is opening the mobile version of the Gemini app for Workspace users to download.
Google Makes Mobile Gemini App Available for Workspace Users
Google recently announcedThe AI-powered Gemini mobile app is rolling out to all Workspace users. It lets you conduct dynamic research and provides quick answers. It also includes advanced features, such as converting handwritten notes or whiteboard drafts into Google Docs, Gmail, or visuals for presentations.
Google is iOS Available on the Android platform as well, meaning some web-focused features, such as Workspace extensions, file uploads, and even Gemini Gems, are not yet available on mobile devices. The app is now available to Google Workspace users, including Business, Enterprise, and Education editions. Google noted that as part of this rollout, it is expanding access to the Gemini mobile app to all education users, both as a core service for qualifying editions and as an add-on service.
However, for iOS users, even with Gemini integrated, Workspace accounts cannot be verified through the Google mobile app. Instead, a separate Gemini mobile app must be installed for Workspace identity verification. Not long ago, Google also added support for at least 13 new file types to the AI chatbot, including Google Sheets and Docs. Now you can upload files such as TXT, DOC, DOCX, PDF, and XLSX from Google Drive or your local device, with a maximum file size of 100MB and up to 10 files uploaded at once.
You can download the Gemini mobile app through the Google Play Store (requiring app version v.15.42 or higher for identity verification) or the Apple App Store. If you don’t see it yet, the full global rollout will likely take some time.
