HTC today officially unveiled VIVEE (pronounced close to lively), a new personal AI product. It uses an OLED screen to talk with you, changes its expression when you touch it, and gradually develops a personality over time as you spend time together. VIVEE innovatively combines AI conversation, long-term memory,Personality development and physical interaction, extending the AI experience to portable,A personal companion device for continuous interaction. As everyday conversations and shared experiences accumulate,VIVEE can gradually develop a unique, personalized way of responding,Expand new applications for personal AI products in everyday companionship and personalized interaction.

What does it actually look like, and how big is it?

The official description of the VIVEE’s size is “roughly the size of an egg,” while Taiwanese media describe its appearance as water-drop shaped. The actual specs are quite clear: 60 × 60 × 50 mm, 114 grams, about the weight of a medium apple. The screen is a high-resolution OLED, with a built-in touch sensor and gyroscope, so it can sense stroking, tapping, shaking, or rotating; when it responds, it also provides a bit of haptic feedback through vibration. Connectivity supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC; charging is via USB-C but no cable is included; the waterproof rating is IPX4, and the official wording is “rain is fine, pool parties are not.”

Besides conversation, VIVEE also has built-in reminders, guided meditation, music playback, and a built-in Photobooth feature. It is positioned as an “interactive lifestyle accessory” rather than a traditional digital assistant.

The gameplay is about nurturing, but the unboxing is a blind box.

When it comes to personality, VIVEE uses a “blind box plus nurturing” combination logic. The starting personalities listed on the official website include lively and curious, calm and reliable, direct and confident, soft and sensitive, rational and quirky, and warm and considerate. Each unit shipped has a randomly assigned personality format, and the personality paired with each color is shipped at random.

But personality is not fixed. Starting from the first “Hello,” every chat, touch, and shared experience becomes part of its personality; even starting from the same point, different interaction journeys can lead two VIVEE to develop different ways of responding. For example, when asked the same question, “What can I do on a rainy day today?”, the five responses listed on the official website range from “binge-watch shows and eat snacks until you’re stuffed” to “put on a raincoat and rain boots and go on a rainy-day adventure somewhere with fewer people.”

Interactions don’t stop at voice; as familiarity grows, more ways to play will gradually unlock. There are also plans to unlock a “multi-device interaction” feature in the future, allowing different VIVEEs to communicate with each other and extending personal companionship into social scenarios among friends. This feature has not yet launched. VIVEE comes in five colors—Cosmic Black, Starlight Silver, Pearl White, Lucky Gold, and Gem Red—and also offers three VIVEE Suits styling accessories: Wild Jungle, Meditation Tree Hollow, and Colorful Ocean. The Suits have built-in NFC; putting on different looks unlocks the corresponding on-screen expressions and also provides protection. The US price is$19.99 each, available in three styles: Ocean, Woods, and Jungle.

When it comes to privacy, HTC has put a lot of effort into explaining it.

For a device that sits at the edge of a desk and listens to you talk, privacy is a core issue. VIVEE’s design makes clear choices here: there is no built-in camera, and the device has a physical mute switch that can turn off the microphone and speaker. Core features do not require linking to an email, social media, bank account, or other personal account. On AI operations, HTC says it de-identifies information before sharing it with third-party AI service providers, and users’ interactions with VIVEE will not be used to train general-purpose large language models.

Price and release date

As for pricing, the pre-order promotional price in the U.S. from October 22 to November 30 is $99, and the regular retail price is $119. Orders are expected to begin shipping in early December, while the price on the Canadian site is CA$143.99.

For the Taiwan market, HTC expects to launch before the end of this year, but the exact date and price have not yet been announced. HTC Japan said it will announce the launch timing, price, and sales method for Japan once they are decided.
