Qualcomm declared a new chapter for PC computing at the 2026 Snapdragon Summit: the agentic AI era. Peter Burns, senior director of product marketing at Qualcomm Technologies, noted in an official blog that the summit’s computing and experiences keynote showed how this vision continues to expand on PCs, advancing agentic AI into larger workflows and enabling AI to collaborate with users in real time like a team of experts. This year’s summit presented three main threads. Snapdragon X2 processors enable agentic AI experiences on-device, the Snapdragon X2 series extends operating system support from Windows and Googlebook to Linux, and partners including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, and HUMAIN simultaneously announced new Snapdragon X series PCs.

At its summit, Qualcomm demonstrated agentic AI applications that independent software vendor partners can already run on Snapdragon-powered PCs today, where the system’s role is no longer just to answer questions but to directly take action and complete tasks.

Qualcomm explained that each agentic AI demo points to a PC platform designed for collaboration between people and AI agents, capable of anticipating needs, taking action, and helping users keep their attention on the work at hand that should be prioritized. The four demos correspond respectively to four scenarios: creation, enterprise internal assistant, real-time media, and cybersecurity.
Googlebook and Gemini Intelligence
Qualcomm has partnered with Google to bring the Snapdragon X Elite platform to Googlebook laptops built specifically for Gemini Intelligence. According to the official description, these premium devices combine multi-day battery life, exceptional performance, and powerful on-device AI. Gemini Intelligence can proactively operate in the background, offering calendar suggestions, finding details in emails, and helping manage complex tasks; features such as Magic Pointer let users invoke Gemini directly at their cursor location, launch AI, incorporate images, and create calendar events without interrupting their workflow.
Snapdragon-powered Googlebook laptops also deliver an Android laptop experience, support native Android apps, and keep users connected across devices. Users can instantly access, search, and insert photos, files, and downloads from Snapdragon-powered Android phones without waiting for file transfers. Qualcomm noted that cross-device continuity is important in the agentic AI era, because intelligence must extend with users rather than being tied to a single device. Googlebook laptops also use the NPU at their core to further strengthen AI features. Qualcomm also announced partnerships with Dell and HP to bring Snapdragon-powered Googlebook laptops to customers.
Snapdragon X2 series will soon support Linux
Qualcomm announced at the summit that the Snapdragon X2 series will soon add Linux support, becoming the third operating system after Windows and Googlebook, enabling developers and partners to build agentic AI experiences across a broader range of PC environments. Qualcomm Technologies is one of the top five contributors to Linux kernel development, and will next submit the kernel drivers for the Snapdragon X2 series, including drivers for the Hexagon NPU and Adreno GPU, to the Linux upstream community.

HP, ASUS, and HUMAIN all plan to begin supporting Linux in the first half of 2027, so that devices can still deliver the experience users expect from the Snapdragon X2 series in the new operating system environment.

Qualcomm said the agentic AI era cannot be built by a single company or a single device; it must rely on a continuously expanding partner ecosystem to bring new products, operating systems, applications, and experiences to market. At the summit, the company shared three sets of figures.
- More than 120 retail partners and over 12,300 stores selling Snapdragon-powered PCs
- More than 13,000 enterprises have deployed or tested Snapdragon-powered PCs.
- More than 7,300 apps are already running on Snapdragon-powered PCs.
Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon set the tone in his keynote: AI has moved from a tool that simply responds to requests to a collaborator that can understand context and take action on users’ behalf. Reasoning now takes center stage, the edge plays a critical role, and Snapdragon is the processor built for the agentic AI era.
According to the specifications on the official product pages, the Snapdragon X2 Elite offers up to an 18-core Oryon CPU with clock speeds reaching 5.0 GHz, and its Hexagon NPU delivers up to 85 TOPS of AI compute, with support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G; the Snapdragon X2 Plus, meanwhile, comes with a configuration of up to 10 cores and delivers 80 TOPS of NPU compute, targeting a new generation of agentic AI and multitasking applications.
What ties all this together is the Snapdragon X series processors, along with a shared conviction about the next chapter of the PC. As the ecosystem of OEMs, operating systems, and applications continues to grow and deliver a variety of experiences in real-world use, Qualcomm’s conclusion at the summit was: the agentic AI PC has arrived, and this is only the beginning.
