In recent days, a large number of media outlets have reported on LINE’s feature adjustments under headlines such as “LINE Keep is being deleted” and “LINE Keep’s features are being massively cut,” causing many users to panic and rush to take screenshots as backups. But after carefully reading LINE’s official announcement, it becomes clear that the Keep feature itself is not being deleted at all. Only two specific types of posts within it are being adjusted. Most media headlines have severely exaggerated the actual scope of the impact.

What exactly changed? Understand the two-stage adjustment at a glance.
On September 7, LINE announced that, due to a service operation policy adjustment, chat room Notes will be changed in two phases. The actual details are as follows:

Phase 1: Starting September 14, 2026, support for creating 2 features will be discontinued.
- Text background cardThe card feature that lets you apply background colors to text will be discontinued. Existing content will not disappear, but will be displayed as a regular text post, and the original background style will no longer be preserved.
- Polls are automatically posted to Notepad. When you create a poll in a chat room, the system will no longer automatically sync the poll content to Notes. The poll feature in the chat room itself is completely unaffected and can still be used normally.
Phase 2: Starting October 7, 2026, delete 2 types of existing posts.
- Auto-published poll / LINE date-picking postVotes and LINE date-picking records that the system previously synced automatically to Notes will be removed from Notes.
- LINE VOOM post shared to NotesPosts shared from LINE VOOM (formerly LINE Timeline) to Keep will be deleted along with their comments and emoji reactions.
LINE officials said the adjustment is “a measure to improve service operations and quality.” Affected posts cannot be restored after deletion, and the system does not provide a one-click backup feature. Users need to copy the text or take screenshots to save it themselves before October 7.
What things are completely unaffected?
The scope of this adjustment is very clear: the following content will not be affected in any way:
- General manual notebook posts in chat rooms and groups (plain text, images, links, location information, etc.)
- Content saved to Notes by long-pressing a LINE message
- The chatroom’s poll feature itself (it just won’t automatically sync to the notepad anymore)
- General posts in LINE Community Notes
Simply put, everything you manually wrote in the notebook is still there. The only things affected are system-auto-published polls, date-picking records, and posts shared from the soon-to-be-discontinued LINE VOOM.
Why delete it now? LINE VOOM is ending its service at the end of September.
The timing of this Notes adjustment is no coincidence. LINE has officially announced that its short-form video and social platform LINE VOOM will officially end service in Taiwan on September 30, 2026. LINE VOOM, formerly known as “LINE Timeline,” was relaunched in 2021 but has never managed to break into Taiwan’s social media market.

Now that LINE VOOM is being retired, posts previously shared from VOOM to Notes will naturally need to be cleaned up as well. The adjustment to the automatic poll posting feature is also part of streamlining services. LINE is phasing out low-use secondary features and returning Notes to its core purpose: manually recording important information in chat rooms.
Before LINE VOOM ends its service, an official backup application period has been provided (August 3 to September 30, 2026), during which users can request an export of their VOOM data. However, posts shared from VOOM to Notes must be manually backed up by October 7.
What exactly is misleading about media headlines?
Open a search engine, and the news headlines from the past week are almost invariably:
- LINE Notes is going to be deleted!
- LINE Notebook Slashes Features!
- LINE Notes feature is being scaled back: 2 types of data will be completely deleted.
- LINE announces cutbacks to 4 useful features! Completely discontinued on 9/14, forcibly deleted on 10/7
These headlines give readers the first impression that the entire LINE Notes feature is going to be scrapped, or that everything in Notes will disappear. In reality, only text card styles, automatic poll syncing, and shared posts from the discontinued VOOM are being changed. The text, images, and links that regular users save in Notes day to day are completely unaffected.
Do you need to back up?
If your notepad contains the following, it is recommended that you back it up before October 7:
- Past poll results that LINE automatically synced to Notes.
- LINE Date Selection Activity Record
- Post shared from LINE VOOM (including comments and emoji reactions)
Backup can only be done manually: copy the text content into Notes or a cloud document, or save it by taking screenshots. LINE does not provide a one-click export feature.
If your notebook only contains regular manual notes, chat room conversation summaries, images, and links, there is absolutely no need to worry—this content will not be affected at all.
Conclusion
Instead of getting scared by the headline and blindly taking screenshots, first open your own notes and check: do you have any voting records, LINE date-picking messages, or VOOM shared posts? If so, back them up; if not, don’t worry about it.
