Apple today officially unveiled the all-new Apple Watch Series 12, featuring a new health sensor system and the S11 chip, delivering the most accurate heart rate monitoring technology ever, along with more advanced health, fitness, and smart features. The new product combines innovative hardware design, Apple Intelligence technology, and the watchOS 27 system to further enhance users’ ability to take control of their personal health, while providing a smarter and more convenient everyday experience.

Apple creates its most comprehensive health, fitness, and safety smartwatch: Apple Watch Series 12
Apple Watch Series 12 features a redesigned health sensing architecture with new optical and electrode heart rate sensors, delivering high-frequency, high-precision health monitoring. Powered by the new S11 chip, the Apple Watch can measure heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV) more frequently, enabling a range of innovative features, including the all-new Readiness score. By analyzing activity levels, sleep quality, vital signs, and training load, this feature helps users understand their physical state and provides recommendations such as recover, pace yourself, ready, or go all out.

According to Apple, based on the results of a study involving more than 1,000 subjects, the Apple Watch Series 12 offers superior heart rate monitoring accuracy compared to major wearable devices on the market, making it one of the most accurate wearable heart rate sensors available today.

Series 12 adds more comprehensive HRV monitoring, with measurement frequency increased up to 24 times the previous rate, helping users track stress, recovery status, and cardiovascular health information. Nighttime vital signs monitoring now integrates recovery HRV analysis, and a new daytime vital signs view has been added, allowing users to see body trends more promptly. Additionally, Apple will release a redesigned iPhone Health app later this year, adding the following features to help users understand their health from a long-term perspective:
- Healthspan Page
- Health Age feature
- AI-driven health insight analysis
- Exercise assessment functions such as flexibility, strength, and balance

Apple has redesigned its step-counting algorithm, combining a new machine learning model with the S11 chip to deliver more accurate step counts and distance measurements. The newly added “Steps” watch face complication allows users to view real-time step data directly on the watch face, enhancing the convenience of daily activity tracking.

Apple Watch Series 12 introduces the new Audio Intelligence feature, combining Apple Intelligence, built-in microphones, and the S11 chip’s computing power to help users stay on top of important sounds and conversations. Key features include Sound Recognition, which can identify doorbells, alarms, sirens, and baby cries even without carrying an iPhone, and notify users in real time. Live Rewind allows users to double-tap the Digital Crown to quickly view a text summary of the last 15 seconds of conversation, making it easy to catch important information they may have missed. Siri Recap automatically generates key takeaways and titles after a conversation ends, for convenient later review and note-taking.
Apple emphasizes that all audio intelligence features are designed with privacy at the core, do not create or store recordings, and raw audio is not accessible to the system, apps, or Apple. The S11 chip includes a dedicated secure enclave that processes audio data. Siri Recap and Live Rewind content support end-to-end encryption via iCloud, and users can turn these features on or off at any time.

With watchOS 27, Apple Watch Series 12 fully supports the next-generation Siri AI. Through Apple Intelligence technology, Siri can understand personal context, maintain continuous conversations, provide richer knowledge-based responses, and proactively recommend relevant information and actions. watchOS 27 also brings a host of updates, including a dynamic app grid interface, new one-handed gestures, smarter Smart Stack suggestions, perimenopause and postmenopause health tracking, and an upgraded Workout Buddy fitness assistant, among others.
The Apple Watch Series 12 maintains up to 24 hours of everyday battery life, while outdoor workout battery life has been extended to up to 10 hours, a 25% increase over the previous generation. In terms of charging, the new model supports faster charging technology, delivering up to 12 hours of battery life from just a 15-minute charge, with charging efficiency improved by 50% compared to the previous generation, allowing users to quickly top up their battery in a short time. “Shazam Music Recognition” can instantly identify songs playing in the surrounding environment and display the song information and artist name directly on the wrist.
Apple Watch Series 12 is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes. The aluminum models come in deep copper, black, light gold, and space gray, and feature an upgraded second-generation Ceramic Shield panel that is 60% more durable than the previous Ion-X glass. The titanium models are offered in gold and natural finishes. Additionally, the first-ever ceramic models come in pearl white and midnight blue. Apple Watch Series 12 is now available for pre-order and will officially launch on September 18, starting at $399.

Even after switching to the latest iPhone 18, scams won’t automatically disappear.

New iPhone security gets more robust every year, but many scams these days don’t directly attack the phone at all—they’re designed to get “you yourself to click.”Fake Apple account alerts, insufficient iCloud storage, credit card payment failures, convenience store package redelivery… As long as you enter your account, password, or credit card information on a fraudulent website, even the newest phone can’t help you determine whether the other party is a scammer.
Besides your own phone, don’t forget your parents at home who use iPhones and iPads. You can install “Trend Micro Mobile Security” for them to help filter suspicious text messages, check malicious and fraudulent URLs, and add an extra security check when they encounter unfamiliar QR codes or suspicious links. You can upgrade to the latest phone, but your anti-scam awareness should be upgraded too.
