In September this year, Musk announced his plan to build a platform better than Wikipedia, namelyGrokipedia“”, after a period of testing, it finally officially went live earlier.
Unlike Wikipedia, Grokipedia uses the Grok language model to generate and maintain content, so in theory it can expand its knowledge base and correct errors more quickly.
Grokipedia’s interface is very clean, with just a search box, similar to typical AI tools. Below it also shows how many articles have been collected so far; at the time of writing, it was over 880,000.
Enter a keyword in the search box. If there are articles that exactly match, the results will be displayed directly.
Once you enter the article, you can read the full content. The content is extremely long, and in most cases, it exceeds Wikipedia in length. Moreover, after some sentences, source links are attached:

After pressing search, although it lists possibly matching results, they’re completely off. I clearly entered 台積電, but TSMC didn’t show up—instead there were some rather odd articles, like a certain person’s name, Taiwanese dramas from 2011 to 2020, and so on. For an AI, it should be easy to know that 台積電 is TSMC in English, but at this stage Grokipedia can’t do that:

The Verge added that this is not the first time xAI has been found directly using Wikipedia content. Last month, users had already pointed out that Grok’s cited sources included Wikipedia pages, and Musk said in a reply: “We’ll fix this before the end of the year.”
It might be because it’s not yet the end of the year, which is why this situation is happening at this stage.
Although compared to the past, current AI accuracy is much higher, and it is very rare for it to provide incorrect information, it will still take time to prove before people can fully trust that Grokipedia’s content is all correct. However, from the fact that Grokipedia has content copied from Wikipedia, it is clear that AI is indeed strictly restricted in data retrieval and writing.
As for when Chinese will be available, I think it might still take some time.
