After using iPhone as a remote control or even a TV color corrector, the various collaboration functions that work seamlessly with Apple TV will be raised to a new level in tvOS 17, which will be released this fall. At today’s WWDC Developer Conference, Apple announced that their next tvOS update will also bring the “continuous interoperable camera” currently provided on the Mac system – that is, directly transforming the iPhone into a function that can provide various video effects including character centering, officially coming to the Apple TV system. Because of this, Apple TV’s App Store will also welcome video conferencing applications, and the first batch will support video conferencing apps such as “Cisco Webex” and “Zoom”.

As for our FaceTime, it will support split display and simulcast sharing functions. New functions such as sending out hearts, fireworks and other special effects in response to the caller’s gestures on the video can also be synchronized on Apple TV – this must be supported by the entire ecosystem, otherwise it will be super embarrassing if the action has no effect (hold your head).

After adding the iPhone’s camera, Apple TV’s singing will also be synchronized to specific songs, providing a special video filter effect that allows you to see yourself appearing on the screen next to the lyrics while singing – just… it feels like shooting a MV (wrong). In addition, the Siri Remote, which many people are always looking for in the living room, is also confirmed to support the search function after this update (finally!).

While enabling the Apple TV remote control on your iPhone, you can also use this feature to find the physical remote control. The interface will be similar to the Find My interface for finding AirTags, but it will only support the search function that senses signal strength to display the size of the circle. And supports the second generation and later Siri Remote – that means that this should mean that the Apple TV remote control will have hardware modifications that support the direction of the search, right?

The official version of tvOS 17 is expected to be available this fall (with a public beta version in July). A new Control Center interface has also been added, and the user account logged in on the iPhone that wakes up Apple TV can be directly referenced to switch accounts in tvOS to correspond to different preferences and settings; the Apple TV screen saver has also added new attractions including Monument Valley in Arizona and the Coastal Redwood Forest in California, as well as selected “memories” from personal galleries, shared galleries, or a combination of both.

With the system update, tvOS will also support the “Enhanced Dialogue” feature that separates dialogue from background noise and brings it to the center channel, as well as support for Dolby Vision 8.1 and third-party VPNs on Apple TV 4K paired with HomePod (2nd generation).

It has to be said, even though it may not be as epoch-making as Vision Pro. However, tvOS is still quietly improving its cooperation with various devices and its ability to work in more applications. Considering the current price of Apple TV, it can be considered that it is constantly increasing its CP value through various new supports!
