Google launches experimental app “Doppl” that lets you try on new clothes without leaving home
At this year’s I/O 2025 developer conference, Google showcased virtual try-on capabilities, and Doppl builds on this to bring additional experimental features as part of Google Shopping. Doppl allows users to virtually try on billions of clothing items online after uploading a non-nude full-body photo of themselves (or using an AI model). In addition, this experimental app brings more features, such as the ability to try on clothing using photos or screenshots.
Doppl can convert static images into AI-generated videos with dynamic visual effects, allowing users to view the appearance of clothing more comprehensively. Additionally, you can share AI-generated try-on videos with friends to get more opinions. In a blog postGoogle mentioned that with Doppl, you can try any style. When you see clothes you like from friends, stores, or social media, you can upload a photo of the clothes to Doppl and imagine what they would look like on you.

Google also mentioned that although Doppl offers an exciting new way to explore personal style, the feature is still in its early stages and may not be very accurate in terms of fit, appearance, and clothing details. Currently, this feature is available to residents of the United States. Android and iOS for users to use, but the company did not reveal when or whether this app would be rolled out to other regions.

Doppl adds a range of new shopping experiences to Google’s products and services. In addition to virtual try-on, Google has also updated AI Mode in Search, which includes features for browsing, considering options, and optimizing product search. Google also introduced an agentic checkout experience that lets users buy items within their budget. It lets you track price fluctuations on any product list, set the right size and color, and set your desired budget. The tool can complete the purchase process on your behalf.
