Nowadays, the Internet is very developed. You can find a lot of programming content by using Google or even asking ChatGPT. However, for beginners, or parents who want their children to be exposed to programming early, it is not so easy to find suitable teaching. Now there is such a “HOUR OF CODE” website on the Internet, which is specially designed for all ages and supports 45 It is a language that allows learners to quickly understand programming by playing games. It does not require any basic knowledge and can be played on any device, including mobile phones. It is completely free.

“Play Programming in One Hour” uses games to quickly learn programming. It is suitable for beginners and children.

  • Click here to go to the “One Hour Program” website

According to the website developer, One Hour of Programming is an international event that introduces computer science in one hour, allowing people to quickly understand programming and learn the most basic knowledge easily.

No programming knowledge is required. This one-hour programming activity focuses on self-guidance. All everyone needs to do is try the tutorials on the website and choose your favorite game in one hour of free time. What’s even better is that the games here are marked with ages suitable for them, and can be played by anyone as young as kindergarten.

After entering the one-hour play program page, scroll down to find all the games, all in Chinese, so don’t worry about not understanding them:

Each game has a description of what age it is suitable for, such as preschool, 2nd grade and above, 5th grade and above, etc. The game content is also diverse, including AI and machine learning, building block style, JavaScript, Python, CoffeeScript, C++, etc., most of which are building block style:

Each game will also have detailed instructions. For example, Flappy is a building block game. Use drag and drop program blocks to design your own Flappy game. You can play it with a browser. After an hour of playing, there will be an advanced version. It is very simple at the beginning, just rely on logic:

There are also video instructions before starting the game, so you really don’t need to worry about not knowing how to play. These videos also have Chinese subtitles:

If you cannot watch the video, or the video cannot be played, there is also a text explanation:

The gameplay of block-based games is similar. First read the operating instructions above, and then move the program blocks on the left below to the right workspace according to the question:

As shown in the picture below, if there is no problem, press Run on the left to check whether the stacking of your program blocks is correct:

If correct, you can proceed to the next level:

There will be more and more program blocks on the left, and the questions will become more and more difficult. The first 5 questions are quite easy at the beginning, and it is basically impossible to make mistakes, but in the second half, you may make mistakes:

When you make a mistake, the operating instructions will pop up with a prompt, such as: “Not entirely correct. You also need to use an unused building block.”:

After one hour of completion, you can obtain a certificate provided by the website and be able to enter Chinese. What this certificate cannot do is encourage children to continue learning:

Currently, there are not a lot of games that support Chinese, but a lot more English ones. I think this game can be used to learn English and understand programming at the same time. After all, many games can be played by kindergarten and above, and the English words used are not too difficult.
