The Deep Research feature lets the AI do deeper and broader searching and understanding before giving answers. Anyone who wants more comprehensive answers will definitely appreciate it. A few days ago, Google made Gemini Deep Research available to free users too, but the quota is tiny and gets used up in no time.
Earlier, Google announced on its official community that it has doubled the original free quota and fully supports the Gamini app, meaning that people without a computer can also use the Gemini Deep Research feature through the mobile app.
The Gemini Deep Research feature can be used 10 times per month, and the mobile app also supports it.
Earlier on X’s official social platform, Google Gemini App announced: “Due to the enthusiastic response to the Deep Research expansion plan, we have doubled the number of free monthly reports for Gemini users, allowing more people to benefit. In addition, the feature is now 100% fully supported on mobile devices, so users can easily access the latest research reports anytime, anywhere.”

The doubling mentioned here means that free users can now use it 10 times per month. While the number isn’t exactly high, it should be enough for most people.
Besides, competitor ChatGPT hasn’t even opened free access—paid users of ChatGPT Plus, Teams, etc., only get 10 Deep Research uses per month. This shows just how generous Gmini really is.
Google also announced that Deep Research is now fully supported in the mobile app. If you still don’t know how to use it, here’s a guide, using the iOS version as an example.
First, make sure you’ve updated Gemini to the latest version. If you still don’t see Deep Research after checking, try reinstalling the app.
After opening Gemini, click the model at the top, and the available model menu will pop up at the bottom—there you’ll see Deep Research:
Next, enter the topic and content you want to research in depth. Once you’ve finished entering it, Gemini will create a research plan. If it looks good, just click Start Research.
The screen displays the current research status in real time. For example, for my query, it researched 207 websites in total—that’s a huge number. If you simply asked AI that question, getting 1x websites would already be impressive.
Since researching so many websites will naturally take some time to complete, you can switch out of the app to do other things, and Gemini will automatically notify you when it’s done.
After completion, click Open to view the full report. The content is massive—a quick scan suggests it’s over 5,000 words. There are also reference website links at the bottom.
Although in-depth research into AI takes more time to explore and compare, if there’s anything you’re unfamiliar with or that seems off, it’s still best to verify it yourself. After all, AI isn’t 100% accurate at this stage and can still make mistakes occasionally.
