Previously, Microsoft had announced that, by The “Deep Thinking” feature powered by the o1 modelIt was made free for everyone to use, but at the time, whether to stop the free access was determined by server load. As more and more services provide similar features for free, and with OpenAI only offering them to ChatGPT paid members, it seems to be a move for differentiation and appeal. Recently, Microsoft officially announced that Copilot Deep Thinking is completely free and unrestricted for everyone, and so is Copilot Voice.

Deep thinking that requires payment on ChatGPT is available on Copilot for free and unlimited use.
Recently, Microsoft announced on its official website that Copilot’s voice and deep-thinking features are now available to everyone for free with no limits. Microsoft mentioned, “We know many users have encountered usage restrictions. Now, these features are open for unlimited use!”
Whether on the web version or the mobile app, you can find these two features. If you want to activate Copilot voice, just click the icon on the right side of the input box:

Deep thinking will only appear after input is provided. Before sending, an icon with … will be displayed; clicking it allows you to switch to deep thinking mode. Compared to regular models, deep thinking takes longer—up to 30 seconds in the worst case—but the answers you get are more accurate and in-depth.

To let everyone experience the charm of this feature in more detail, Microsoft has also provided some usage examples.
For Copilot voice features, you can try the following:
- Practice simple foreign language conversations to help you communicate with locals when traveling.
- Have Copilot conduct a mock interview and provide advice based on your career experience.
- Voice guidance during cooking lets you follow recipes hands-free with ease.
Deep thinking, on the other hand, applies to more complex decisions, such as major purchases, property investment, career planning, and so on. Here are a few approaches you can try:
-
A more suitable electric vehicle
- I value design and comfort, and I want to buy an electric car with a strong “futuristic” feel. Can you help me build a rating system to compare different models?
-
The best investment for home renovation
- “I have $15,000 available for renovations and am considering a kitchen island, bathroom remodel, or roof replacement—which option would increase my home’s value the most within 3 years?”
-
Should I buy a generator?
- The community I live in loses power every time there’s a strong wind. Should I buy a generator?
Please help me analyze the pros and cons, cost impact, convenience, and whether it’s worth investing.

However, if you happen to be using it during peak hours, or if security risks, abusive behavior, or violations of Copilot’s terms of use are detected, it may still be subject to restrictions.
Although it is unlimited and free for everyone to use, which is very generous, Copilot Pro paying users will definitely be unhappy, since competitor ChatGPT only offers it to paying members.
Microsoft also added that Copilot Pro still has many extra advantages, such as priority access to the latest AI models during peak hours, early access to new AI features, and additional Copilot usage in Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
