With the design of smart phones, most of them are based on built-in batteries, and battery maintenance has become a very big issue (on this point, Apple has justLearned a big lesson, explained chemistry from beginning to end like this Orz). Recently, many brands, such as Sony and ASUS, have provided customized functions for battery charging/power consumption logic, hoping to maximize battery life. Now it seems that Google has actually quietly added some protection mechanisms to the batteries of its own Pixel models, and this mechanism not only includes the latest models, but is also supported by Pixel 3~Pixel 5. Continue reading Pixel 3 and later models silently added a new mandatory battery health protection mechanism. When will it be triggered? What will you do? This article tells you the content of the report.

Pixel 3 and later models silently added a new mandatory battery health protection mechanism. When will it be triggered? What will you do? This article tells you

Instead of making the battery protection mechanism a function, Google has introduced a built-in function of “optimizing for battery health” for models after Pixel 3 (currently Pixel 5, and the next Pixel 6 will also follow it, right?).

From the literal meaning, it can be understood that it is basically consistent with the functional purpose of most battery maintenance at this stage. It’s just that Google doesn’t provide additional switches. So at this stage, this restriction mechanism will be forcibly activated as long as the conditions are met. As for when it will start? According to the official statement, there are two conditions:

· In highly power-consuming situations such as gaming
· Charging continuously for more than 4 days

Once satisfied, the battery will be limited to charge to 80%, and a prompt will be displayed on the AOD that optimized battery health has been activated. If you want to interrupt this mechanism, you can first unplug the power cord or remove the Pixel Stand wireless charging stand. Or restart it and wait for about 10 minutes, and it should be able to charge to 100%.

That is to say, I am personally curious about the conditions for continuous charging for more than 4 days. Because shouldn’t it be already charged to 100%? Maybe it will gradually discharge to 80% after 4 days and then maintain power? I wonder if any Pixel phone users have noticed this mechanism? You can also leave a message to talk about the actual triggering situation.
