The classic anime IP that has captured the attention of die-hard anime fans and real-life robot enthusiasts, *Mobile Police After a long period of preparation and promotional buildup, the *Patlabor* (Mobile Police Patlabor) series has finally reached a pivotal milestone. Release Schedule Announced for the Three-Part “Mobile Police Patlabor EZY” Theatrical Film Series
The creation of *Mobile Police Patlabor EZY* has been a rollercoaster ride. The production team released a reboot trailer back in 2017, but things went quiet for quite some time after that. Over the intervening years, the team was seen holding small test screenings in various locations in what appeared to be fundraising efforts, though these didn’t seem to go very smoothly. After the last update came out last year, there was a long period without any new information, and I had begun to think the project might have been scrapped—but to my surprise, they’ve now announced three new theatrical films all at once.

According to the latest news released today on the official website for *Mobile Police Patlabor EZY*, this new work will not be a one-time theatrical release, but will instead be released in chapters over the course of several years. While it was originally thought that the series would be released on streaming platforms like Netflix, the announcement of a three-part theatrical release format comes as a surprise, demonstrating the production committee’s confidence in the script’s depth and the world-building of the series.
The official release schedule is as follows:
-
Chapter 1 (File 1): Friday, May 15, 2026
-
Chapter 2 (File 2): August 14, 2026
-
Chapter 3 (File 3): Expected in March 2027
With the announcement of the release date, the official website also unveiled a brand-new key visual. The most striking aspect of this visual is undoubtedly its composition: Izumi Noa, the legendary pilot from the *Mobile Police* series, and Towa Kuga, the new protagonist of *EZY*, are depicted facing each other.

This new work is once again produced by “Headgear,” directed by Yutaka Izubuchi—known for his mecha designs in *Mobile Police*—with character designs by Akemi Takada and a screenplay by renowned writer Kazunori Ito. The music is once again composed by Kenji Kawai and others, so the quality of the work should be top-notch:
