Last week, Intel officially released the Arc A380 independent graphics card. Although game test data is provided, it is official after all. For interested players, you will definitely want to know whether the actual measurement is the same? Earlier, early Arc A380 performance and game test videos appeared in China. The results showed that the A380 still has driver optimization issues, and the game running scores are not as high as expected.

Early performance and game testing of Intel Arc A380 discrete graphics card revealed

Earlier, the “Everything Can Be Tested” channel on China’s Bilibili Video website uploaded a video titled “Intel’s new generation graphics card A380, at a price in the thousands, how is its performance?” They tested this graphics card on a platform equipped with an Intel Core i5-12400 processor, a B660 motherboard and DDR4 memory. The A380 is an entry-level graphics card, so it is comparable to NVIDIA RTX 3050, GTX 1650 and AMD RX 6500XT / 6400 graphics cards for comparison.

The A380 graphics card adopts a dual-fan design and has a blue breathing indicator light design next to the 8-pin power hole:

Provides 3 Display Ports and 1 HDMI, supporting DP 2.0 but HDMI is 2.0, not the latest 2.1:

The memory is the same as AMD RX 6900XT, Samsung GDDR5, single 2GB, 3 pcs to form a 96-bit 6GB graphics card memory:

The first is 3DMARK. In the Firestrike test mode, the Arc A380 scored 11,005 points, which is about 10% faster than the GTX 1650:

3DMark Timespy performed very well, scoring 5,170 points, leading GTX 1650 / RX 6400 by more than 40%, and also beating RX 6500XT. This shows that Arc A380 has certain hardware potential, but the driver has not caught up, so some tests are not very satisfactory:

Everything Can Be Tested mentioned that the Arc A380’s ray tracing performance is not up to usable levels, but in the 3DMark Port Royal test, the score of 947 was twice as high as the RX 6500 XT:

They tested a total of 6 games, including: “League of Legends”, “Grand Theft Auto V”, “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds”, “Tomb Raider: Shadow”, “Forza Horizon 5” and “Red Dead Redemption 2”. Overall, the performance of the A380 is not very good, especially in DX11. Just like 3DMark’s DX 11 test, there are obvious problems with the current driver:

Everything can be measured and supplemented. In 3DMark’s Timespy score, the A380 leads the GTX 1650 / RX 6400 by more than 40%. However, in the real game environment, the A380 loses even the GTX 1650. Therefore, it is obvious that there is a situation. The A380’s specifications and theory are very strong, but the real game environment is not fully realized, mainly because its driver and game aspects are not fully optimized.

We hope that the issue with the Arc graphics card driver will be completely resolved when it goes on sale in Taiwan and other countries.Click here to watch the full video。
