The open-source AI search engine MiniPerplx has a simple interface that helps users quickly obtain the information they need. Recently, MiniPerplx announced a partnership with xAI, allowing users to search the web on MiniPerplx using the Grok 2 model. This also gives users more ways to search for the information they want to learn about.

However, the downside of not logging in is that once you refresh the page or search for new content, your previous search history will disappear. Everyone should keep this in mind when using MiniPerplx, so you don’t lose your data halfway through a search.
Click the Web tile to choose the search method you want to use. MiniPerplx offers four options: web information, X post content, academic papers, and real-time YouTube video search. Before you start searching for information, you need to select the search method you want to use. Once the search has started, you cannot change the search method unless you open a new page.
The editor here used three search methods—web information, X post content, and real-time YouTube video searches—to look up information about the Cybertruck explosion at the Trump Hotel that occurred on January 1, 2025. After testing, I found that when asking questions, you need to add a request for a Traditional Chinese response, and only then will MiniPerplx reply in Chinese; otherwise, the information you get will be in English.

Additionally, we should remind everyone that when using AI search engines like MiniPerplx, you still need to be aware that artificial intelligence may hallucinate or talk nonsense. During testing, the editor found that although MiniPerplx provides reference links after the answer, the answers it gives are not necessarily completely correct.
Although MiniPerplx, like other AI search engines, still has issues with hallucination, it’s still pretty decent if you just use it as a tool to quickly get information. Anyway, it’s free and doesn’t require login, so everyone can go ahead and try MiniPerplx to see how it works.
