Intel released its new-generation mainstream graphics card Battlemage series at the beginning of the month, including the Arc B580 and Arc B570. The latter has not gone on sale yet, but based on B580 sales figures, it appears quite popular, with many places sold out at the time. This shows that Battlemage has already achieved initial success. As AI computing demand continues to grow, recent reports suggest Intel is also considering a strategy shift. In addition to the mainstream market, it is currently planning Battlemage graphics cards for professional use, with VRAM expected to reach as high as 24GB.

Intel Battlemage may add a new professional graphics card with up to 24GB of memory.

According to foreign media reports, a few days agoChinese media outlet Quantum BitIn the article, it mentions the insider information they received: due to the growing demand in the AI inference market, Intel plans to adjust its strategy for future products, and in 2025 it will launch the Battlemage series with 24GB of video memory:

最後,我們還打聽到一個內幕消息:英特爾看到AI推理這個市場需求逐漸擴大後,在後續產品策略上也有所調整。2025年,英特爾準備推出Battlemage系列顯卡的更大顯存版本,其容量將增至24G。以後就是現有版本繼續服務於遊戲等消費級市場,24G的更大顯存版本瞄準“生產力市場”。“生產力市場”的目標用戶涵蓋了數據中心、邊緣機房、教育科研和個人開發者等。

Quantum Bit specifically noted that the 24GB version is a professional-grade graphics card, not developed for the gaming market, so gamers can just ignore this card. But if you’re a professional user, especially with AI computing needs, then next year you can look forward to more options, no longer limited to just choosing between N and A.

Additionally, according to shipping records previously shared by overseas netizens, Intel has already begun shipping BMG-G21 graphics cards with a Clamshell memory configuration. The interface is 192-bit, so it can carry 12GB of memory, or reach 24GB in Clamshell mode. This matches the content reported by Quantum Bit.

Well 2weeks ago i saw b580 in clamshell so 24gb may be true. https://t.co/Os7oJa7NMv

Many people might be curious whether the AI performance of Intel’s Battlemage graphics cards can keep up with or even surpass NVIDIA and AMD. Tomasz Gawronski also shared a benchmark image showing that the latest ARC B580 12GB is 1 to 1.5 times faster than the NVIDIA RTX 4060 8GB.

Last year, Intel also launched the Arc Pro A60 for the professional market, which also comes with 12GB of VRAM. Although it’s cheaper, as of 2025, this memory capacity is clearly no longer sufficient, especially since competitors offer up to 48GB of video memory, such as AMD’s Radeon W7000 graphics cards and NVIDIA’s Ada Lovelace workstation GPUs.

So the Battlemage series also has professional graphics cards with increased memory, which makes sense when you think about it.

Regardless, it’s still just a rumor at this point, and it’s unclear when it will eventually be released. We can look forward to the upcoming CES 2025 event—Intel might reveal some details there.
