According to the official website of the Chiayi City Government, “Chiayi Style” is Taiwan’s first city standard font. The font structure is based on classic font proportions, reflecting the mature charm of Chiayi City, and is also based on Edward Johnston, the Owen calligrapher. The flowing brushstrokes give people a warm and cordial feeling, just like the cordiality and enthusiasm of Chiayi citizens.

Guo Xuanzhi, director of the Smart Technology Office of the Chiayi City Government, said that “Chiayi City” can be downloaded for free around the world and can be used on various systems. In addition, the Chiayi City Government has recently launched a new city brand key visual, which reflects Chiayi City’s urban personality: externally “mature and intellectual”, “steady and restrained”, internally “enthusiastic and lively” with “diversified perspectives”. He is an old soul who enjoys life, loves art, history and humanities. The brand logo of Chiayi City starts from the image of fountains from different angles, combined with the “+1” representing Chiayi City, and the city’s English initials C hidden in it. The two elements represent Chiayi City’s historical heritage (internal) and openness and progress (external). The negative space C in the middle represents discovering Chiayi City from more angles.
“I+” visually resembles English and a plus sign, which represents Chiayi City’s starting from me and moving upwards. For example, “Ai Jia” is a homophone, and the city’s citizen ID card font size starts with “I” in English. “+” also symbolizes urban upgrading and citizens’ priority.
