Last year, Google Meet announced the addition of a new “Companion mode” to its video conferencing service. By supporting second screen devices, it can cope with multi-person usage scenarios in physical conference rooms. To put it simply, people in the same conference room do not have to be crowded in front of the same screen/video camera. Video conferencing can be started from another device under the same account.

Google Meet Companion mode can support starting meetings through specially generated links. Since you are attaching another screen to a specific account – it should be somewhat similar to the concept of sharing a screen. Therefore, in the split screen of Meet, the Companion mode screen will not be displayed additionally.
This feature is said to be already available in Workplace, but in the same push way as previous services. Google may gradually open it to users in the next few weeks.
As the most important video conferencing service under Google, Google Meet very generously provided everyone with free access to advanced user functions during the epidemic last year and has continued to extend this measure. At the end of last year, the time limit for multi-person video conferences for non-enterprise user accounts began to be added back. If more than 3 people are involved in a video conference, they will have 1 hour to go online; a simple 1-to-1 video conference can still be up to 24 hours.
Although it is a pity that it will not be free for a long time, since Google Meet continues to launch new features, I believe everyone will still love to use this service.
