Recently, I have seen that Microsoft has been pushing the new system introduction of Windows 11. The most eye-catching thing is that it has abandoned the long-used left taskbar and changed it to the apple-flavored center taskbar. It turns out that taking a bite of an apple feels good! However, what we want to talk about today is not the position of the task bar, but mainly the size of the task bar. In the past, Windows 10 could adjust the size of the task bar, but Windows 11 was unable to do so. Especially the current screens are all wide screens, and the height affects the visible vertical range. In order to allow the screen to see more vertical information, adjusting the task bar is a very pragmatic way. Do you want to adjust the size of the task bar? Let’s take a look at the instructions for getting kicked by a passerby.

The Start screen of Windows 8 is the new interface hub that Microsoft is proud of. The love-hate tile interface of Windows 8 is not favored by everyone. Although Windows 8.1 added the “Start button”, it is still incompatible with the operation. Until Windows 10 finally returned the complete start menu, but the display mode of the menu menu is still somewhat different from that of Windows 7. Maybe you are used to the menu mode of Windows 7.
Windows 11 has undergone a major turnaround this time. The dynamic tiles on the start screen are gone, which means that the interactive information that I was proud of at the beginning is gone. In fact, I personally don’t like the real-time interaction of dynamic tiles. I always turn off the interactive display of dynamic tiles. Seeing that Windows 11 returns to the Widget method to display dynamic information, the window has soft colors and rounded corners, which really feels like a Mac. But it is a pity that this interface change has lost some original functions and settings. For example, the author always uses a smaller taskbar. The picture below shows the taskbar setting function provided by Windows 10.

On Windows 11, the function setting for taskbar size cannot be found.

The taskbar in Windows 11 is larger than the taskbar in Windows 10. Perhaps most users will ignore this small change, but some users prefer a smaller taskbar. So there is no turning around, so I use the Windows login editor to solve the problem. On Windows 11 Pro system, press [Win]+[R] and enter “regedit” and then press the [OK] button.

Just like Windows 10, a window for using this account will appear during execution. This is because a security warning window of “User Account Control” will appear for security issues. Mainly when users perform some actions that will affect the system, they will often see a confirmation screen, so press [Yes] to continue (if you want to remove this warning, please refer to “Talking about User Account Control (UAC) in Windows 8/10″article).

Search for “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced” on the “Login Editor” window. After finding it, right-click on “Advanced” to add a DWORD (32-bit) value.

and name it “TaskbarSi”, this value can make the Windows 11 taskbar smaller, medium and large.

To make the Windows 11 taskbar smaller, medium, or large, just edit and specify the value as 0, 1, or 2. If I want to make it the smallest, specify 0 and then reboot.

The picture below is a reduced workbar screen. After the workbar is reduced, of course the icon will also be reduced.

The picture below shows the default Windows 11 taskbar size that has not been adjusted. The size change can be clearly seen from the picture above.
