iOS photo editing app Darkroom now supports Apple Silicon / M1 Mac computers
I don’t know if everyone saw that Mac computers will use the release of Apple Silicon / M1 chips as a watershed and begin to gradually shift to the ARM architecture strategy. Do you think of several brands that adopt similar practices? It seems that even a useful photo editing or productivity software is difficult to find. But now it seems that although Facebook or Google have not yet shown their intention to bring iOS applications to the Mac, the easy-to-use mobile application Darkroom is like a timely rain, igniting the wastage of many people considering buying M1 chip Mac computers.
What’s interesting is that Darkroom’s announcement today directly puts Intel CPU Mac support in the title — in fact, the editor really rubbed his eyes. This seems to be different from most methods of introducing desktop support such as keyboard and mouse operations into iOS / iPadOS apps. Darkroom will not only be on macOS, but will also be a universal Universal app.
I’m not sure whether this part is the strategy of most developers when the x86 and ARM architectures are transitioning, or whether it is a compatibility approach of a few specifically for Intel processors – or they originally made a Mac version and then converted it to a Universal app. In any case, they all let Darkroom show different momentum for coming to the Mac platform.
Darkroom 5.0 is now available on Mac App Store Download, the minimum system requirement is macOS 11 Big Sur or later. The size of the application is super small at only 12.1MB. The only catch is that a paid subscription to Darkroom+ will reportedly be required to use it on a Mac. But seriously, for those who are worried about not finding a good photo editing app on M1 Mac, it would be nice to at least have a familiar and good choice.
