Although most players are eagerly awaiting the release of Rockstar Games’ latest title, *Grand Theft Auto VI*, they have recently discovered that *Red Dead Redemption 2*—which was released several years ago—actually contains a mysterious, yet-to-be-cracked Easter egg, which has drawn a large number of players back to the game to solve the mystery.

It’s been more than seven years since *Red Dead Redemption 2* was released, but it wasn’t until late December 2025 that a group of dedicated fans began noticing this previously undiscovered secret in the game. The clue to this mystery is a spider symbol that appears on a specific utility pole only at certain times. According to their findings, if you place this spider symbol on the game map starting from its origin point, you’ll find eight utility poles at the positions of its eight legs—and during specific nighttime periods in-game, these poles will consistently generate a mysterious spiderweb. Since these clues were all traceable, players quickly concluded that this was definitely not just a figment of their imagination.

Two weeks after this new secret was discovered, players have gradually unearthed more clues. Based on what is currently known, players are almost certain that this is indeed a secret intentionally planted in the game by Rockstar Games. As of now, many players who enjoy solving puzzles are still scrambling to uncover the true meaning behind this mystery.

These spiderwebs contain a feather that players can shoot down, but the spiderwebs themselves only appear for one hour each night in the game. Simply put, it’s not easy to notice this rare and inconspicuous secret, let alone realize that there’s more than one location where this phenomenon occurs.

Strange Man, a YouTube channel dedicated to uncovering all kinds of secrets in Rockstar Games titles, recently discussed this newly discovered secret in a video. According to him, the discovery of this new mystery is thanks to three players: goldenplaysterraria, pariah87, and u/FL4VA-01. Furthermore, comments below the video claim that after testing, it was confirmed that this secret has indeed existed in *Red Dead Redemption 2* since 2018, rather than being added through a subsequent update.

Last week, players entered a new phase in solving this brand-new mystery. They discovered that several spiderwebs lead to a mysterious spiderweb located on a tree, and hidden in the center of this web is the letter “N” and the symbol for another telegraph pole. Following the “N” northward, players will find another utility pole; after shooting it, they’ll discover a new directional clue—“W”—and a symbol representing five utility poles beneath the surface. Proceed westward, and after finding the fifth utility pole, shoot the surface to reveal the next clue—“NW”—along with a guitar symbol.

After thorough exploration, players discovered a military camp in that area. Upon entering, they found several guitars, and by following the direction indicated by the guitars, they arrived at the watchtower in the center of the camp. Climbing to the top of the tower, they realized that the layout of the entire camp resembled a giant guitar.

As for what secrets this camp actually holds, that remains the latest development in the mystery, but one thing is certain: judging by the current pace, it doesn’t seem like it will be long before this mystery is officially solved. Players are currently conducting a thorough search of the area northwest of the utility pole, trying to find any clues related to the guitar.

Since this secret has been present in *Red Dead Redemption 2* for seven years, players generally believe it’s unlikely to be a hint from Rockstar Games about future plans. But for *Red Dead Redemption 2* fans, this is still an exciting moment, and it gives them even more reason to return to the game and join in on the mystery-solving.
