The vast majority ofCell PhoneGamesEverything is controlled using virtual buttons, but recently, a developer—who knows where he got the idea from—actually came up with the idea of using the “action of plugging in and unplugging a phone charger” to simulate drawing a bow and shooting an arrow in the game.

Although prolonged use will inevitably damage the charging cable and the phone’s charging port, this creative idea—which ingeniously leverages the phone’s hardware to create a unique “kinesthetic” experience—has garnered significant attention, racking up over 18,000 likes and millions of views in just two days.

This gameplay is so creative! A player from abroad designed a game where you have to constantly “plug and unplug the charging cable” to shoot arrows.

Rebane, a web developer from Estonia, recently shared his newly developed web game, *Charchery*, on his personal X account. The game features an endless mode, meaning enemies will keep pouring in, and players must quickly shoot arrows to maintain their defense. The attack mechanic involves “plugging and unplugging a phone charger.”

The steps are as follows:

  1. Plug the charging cable into your phone’s USB-C port; when the game detects that the phone is charging, it will automatically draw the bow to charge the shot. The longer the cable is plugged in, the more powerful the arrow becomes, simulating the tension felt when drawing a real bow.
  2. Next, use the phone’s built-in gyroscope to rotate or tilt the device to adjust the viewing angle and aim at the target.
  3. Finally, pull the charging cable out with all your strength, and the arrow will be fired immediately. If it hits, it will trigger the combo system, increasing your score.

Although this method is quite unusual, it’s clear from the video that this charging cable is on its last legs—the white outer protective sleeve is severely worn away, and it looks painful every time it’s pulled. Moreover, it’s not just the charging cable; frequent plugging and unplugging like this can also damage the phone’s charging port. Some netizens have even commented that “This is also a ‘brilliant’ way to ruin a charging cable in 10 minutes.”

If you really want to give it a try, here’s a linkLink to the “Charchery” browser game…but I wouldn’t recommend taking the risk. It’s okay to try it once or twice, or you could use an old phone and charging cable you don’t use anymore. Also, please note that this currently only supports Android phones; it doesn’t work on iOS. If you open the webpage on an iOS device, you’ll see the screen shown below. You’ll also need to use Chrome or a compatible browser. If you try to access it on a computer, it will display a message saying that the phone’s gyroscope cannot be detected, so you won’t be able to play:

On the technical side, Rebane uses browser APIs to detect charging events (such as the Battery Status API or similar) and combines this with WebGL to render simple graphics. It was inspired by classic Flash games such as *Defend Your Castle* and *Bowmaster Prelude*.

It’s not just *Charchery*—Rebane previously shared another equally creative project called *Foldy Bird*, which uses the hinge mechanism of a foldable phone’s screen as a control mechanism. This video has also racked up an astonishing number of views, exceeding 10 million. (Link to the web version of “Foldy Bird”):

That said, there has been a noticeable increase in this type of experimental game in recent years, and many developers have begun to think “outside the box” when it comes to interaction.
