According to theDexertoAccording to a report on the website, Brazilian electronics and IT equipment distributor Oderço recently suffered a bizarre theft: a shipment of RTX 5090 graphics cards worth about US$470,000 (around NT$15 million) disappeared after entering Brazil at São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport and remains missing, and the cause of the incident has not yet been clarified.

Because it had still not received a response from customs authorities about the incident, the e-commerce company, which has a 38-year history, recently disclosed details of the theft on Instagram, hoping to draw public attention, prompt the relevant authorities to speed up the investigation, and help them recover the missing goods.
“In the more than 38 years since we opened, we have never encountered anything like this, and of course we will not choose to remain silent,” Oderço said in a statement.

According to detailed information provided by the company, the shipment, totaling two pallets, consisted entirely of Zotac-brand RTX 5090 graphics cards, with a cost value of approximately 2.5 million reais (US$470,000). In its statement, the company also questioned how such valuable cargo could simply vanish inside an international airport that serves as the country’s gateway, while criticizing customs officials for never providing a definitive explanation. Oderço is therefore still trying to clarify the truth of the incident and doing everything possible to locate the missing shipment.
As things stand, Oderço has not publicly disclosed the exact time this batch of graphics cards arrived at the airport, nor has it provided relevant shipment tracking information, leaving outsiders unable to determine whether the shipment was stolen, lost in transit, or went missing for other reasons. Although the company has confirmed that the missing cargo totaled two pallets, it has not disclosed the actual number of missing graphics cards.

Although it is currently not possible to know the procurement cost of a single Zotac RTX 5090 graphics card, if we calculate based on the local market price in Brazil of about 34,000 reais per Zotac RTX 5090 graphics card, then the number of missing graphics cards is very likely more than 70. Considering that the procurement cost would be somewhat lower than the market price, the actual number stolen may be even higher.
Because RTX5090 stock is still in short supply worldwide, and there were even reports at one point that it was about to be discontinued, this incident has also drawn a lot of attention from gamers. Before this, expensive graphics cards and other electronic equipment had repeatedly become targets of logistics theft and delivery disputes, such as disappearing after delivery, and there have even been cases of consumers removing a graphics card’s core and memory modules and then returning it for a refund.

As of now, Oderço is still tracking down the whereabouts of this batch of missing graphics cards, and the relevant authorities have not yet provided a confirmed explanation for the incident. Whether this batch of RTX 5090s, worth nearly $500,000, was stolen, lost, or involved other logistics issues remains to be clarified through further investigation.
