Google Maps beta string teardown: Ask Maps reportedly integrates Zepto grocery shopping and Peloton fitness classes, and also hides clues about a booking agent.

Google Maps’ AI agent feature Ask Maps may be expanding its partnership footprint again. The leaker @yabhishekhd (Abhishek Yadav), known for mining internal strings in Google products, posted on X on October 10, sharing a screenshot comparing strings from Google Maps 26.41.00 beta, in which three new names appeared: Zepto, Peloton, and Pacific Market, indicating that Ask Maps’ partner list is growing, and that in the future users may be able to directly order grocery delivery and arrange fitness classes in the Maps interface.

The same screenshot also hides another clue: a string named ASK_MAPS_APPOINTMENT_AGENT, which literally means “Ask Maps appointment agent.” The timing of these strings appearing in the beta version is also intriguing—just two months after Google added food ordering and hotel booking capabilities to Ask Maps in August. With food ordering, hotel booking, grocery shopping, class scheduling, and now appointment booking, Google’s vision for Ask Maps looks like an agentic entry point for everyday transactions. Below is a rundown of the specific contents of these strings, as well as the capabilities and partnership models Ask Maps currently has.

Beta strings surface: three partner names plus a new agent

According to a screenshot publicly shared by @yabhishekhd, the file named maps-26.41.00-diff.txt indicates that these are the newly added strings in Google Maps 26.41.00.993332563 (beta) compared with the previous version, and the package name is com.google.android.apps.maps. The document lists four new strings:

  • AGENTIC_ECOSYSTEM_AIM_ALLOWS_ZEPTO
  • AGENTIC_ECOSYSTEM_AIM_ALLOWS_PELOTON
  • AGENTIC_ECOSYSTEM_AIM_ALLOWS_PACIFIC_MARKET
  • ASK_MAPS_APPOINTMENT_AGENT

Judging from the prefix AGENTIC_ECOSYSTEM_AIM_ALLOWS_, this set of strings is likely intended as a partner allowlist for the agentic ecosystem, used to control which providers can integrate with Ask Maps’ agent task flows. The name ASK_MAPS_APPOINTMENT_AGENT points to appointment-type agent tasks, possibly applications such as restaurant reservations or service bookings, filling in another piece of the puzzle beyond food ordering and hotel booking. The leaker noted in the post that Ask Maps can already handle food ordering and hotel booking, and may next be able to order fresh groceries through Zepto.[1] It’s worth noting that beta strings only indicate that Google is developing related features; there is no official word on the actual interface or launch timing.

What Is Ask Maps: From Conversational Q&A to Agentic Tasks

Ask Maps It is the Gemini conversational experience launched by Google in March 2026, built directly into Google Maps. Users can click the “Ask Maps” button to ask questions in natural language and get personalized recommendations and custom maps. Miriam Daniel, Vice President of Google Maps, said at the time that this feature lets users ask complex questions beyond navigation.

On August 6, 2026, Google added agentic capabilities to Ask Maps, supporting food ordering, hotel booking, and event tickets in one go. For food ordering, for example, users can say, “Order me a spicy seafood chow fun to pick up on my way home.” Ask Maps will find restaurants along the route that are open, take into account saved locations and dietary needs, and after selecting a restaurant, automatically add the meal to the cart for the user to confirm and check out. For hotel booking, Ask Maps compares real-time room rates and availability; the official demo query is very colloquial: “I’m going to downtown Miami next week for a meeting—find me a hotel with reasonable prices, good reviews, and within walking distance of a gym and restaurants.” For events, it lists information and ticket links for everything from concerts to comedy shows. Google also said Ask Maps can reference information in users’ inboxes, such as flights or dinner reservations, to proactively suggest itinerary ideas.

Integration model: Square and Toast prototype first.

Behind Ask Maps’ ordering feature is an integration path that connects merchants’ POS systems. Payment media Digital Transactions ReportSquare and Toast are the first POS providers to enable agentic ordering in Ask Maps, and Uber Eats support is also in the works.

Using Square as an example, once merchants enable their Google Business Profile, they appear in Ask Maps results. Menus, business hours, and store information sync automatically from Square’s backend, with no additional setup or fees. In the U.S., consumers can browse menus, customize orders, and complete checkout through Cash App’s Order by in Ask Maps. Payment methods supported include credit cards, debit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Cash App balance, and gift cards. Orders flow directly into the restaurant’s POS and kitchen display system.

Morgan Kuntze, Block’s head of global partnerships, said in a statement that after expanding its partnership with Google, Square sellers will no longer need to manually update data across channels to appear in these types of AI conversations. Toast CMO Kelly Esten described the integration as “a seamless transition from search to ordering,” with menus appearing at the moment a customer decides to order, turning attention directly into revenue. Users can place orders by text or voice, and payments are processed through Toast Local within Google Maps; Google Wallet is not currently supported.

Who are the three new partners?

Zepto in the string is an Indian quick-commerce operator focused on 10-minute grocery delivery, and along with Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart, it is a major player in India’s quick-commerce market. In 2026, the market’s monthly transaction value has reached about 110 billion rupees (about NT$40 billion), nearly double that of the previous year, with fierce competition among operators. In December 2025, Zepto confidentially filed for an IPO, planning to raise about US$1.22 billion (about NT$39.7 billion), facing rivals including publicly listed Eternal (Zomato’s parent company) and Swiggy. If Zepto indeed integrates with Ask Maps, Google Maps will gain another grocery transaction entry point in the Indian market, and for Zepto, which is racing toward its IPO, it will also be a new exposure channel.

Peloton is an American fitness brand best known for smart exercise bikes, treadmills, and online class subscriptions. Peloton and Google have worked together before: the two signed a multi-year content distribution partnership, allowing Google Fitbit Premium members to access Peloton fitness classes. If Peloton officially integrates with Ask Maps, users may be able to search for or schedule fitness classes in the map interface. There is currently no further information on the actual integration method or launch timeline.

The operator corresponding to the third name, PACIFIC_MARKET, is currently unclear. It can only be confirmed that Google is testing a partner named Pacific Market for integration with Ask Maps; its identity will not be determined until a later version or official statement.

Conclusion

These strings outline the expansion direction of Ask Maps: gradually turning Maps from a search and navigation tool into an agentic entry point for everyday transactions. Food ordering and hotel booking are already live, while groceries, fitness classes, and reservation services appear to be on the way. The beta strings are just signals that development is underway; whether the features will launch, and in what form, still depends on official word from Google. The official release of Google Maps 26.41 and subsequent official announcements are the next two things to watch; if the partnerships with Zepto and Peloton actually materialize, it would also signal that Google is extending the front line of agentic commerce from U.S. restaurants to India’s grocery market and fitness services. At present, Taiwan does not appear to have any similar related plans.
