Ever since it officially launched earlier this week, Aion 2, developed by Korea’s NC Soft, has sparked an enthusiastic response among players and successfully set an impressive record of nearly 400,000 concurrent players on Steam. At the same time, however, the game’s character system has also sparked heated discussion among Western player communities due to a highly “distinctive” option.

Just like many other Korean RPGs, Aion 2 offers a fairly rich character customization system, allowing players to choose their character’s gender, hairstyle, skin tone, body type, and facial details. Among these, the option for the character’s “breast and buttock size” has become a hotly discussed topic, because players can adjust the character’s breast size to extremely exaggerated dimensions.
Before long, a series of Aion 2 character creation videos went viral on platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and YouTube. One video, titled “Aion 2 Is a True Artistic Masterpiece,” even racked up 15.5 million views in 24 hours, drawing more players’ attention to this RPG sequel, with many saying they couldn’t wait to try it for themselves.

Veilguard’s chest slider goes from minus 100 to 100. The character didn’t notice. AION2 maxed the same slider and the whole model changed. Both say 100. Only one of them meant it. https://t.co/42MP3QOssO

On the other hand, many players have also compared the “freedom” in Aion 2’s character creation system with that of more DEI-oriented games such as Dragon Age: The Veilguard, using it to satirize how such games present their character art style and aesthetics, saying that from the final player count performance alone, it is clear what the main audience of the gaming market prefers.
Aion 2 men are castrated mannequins. No dick. No balls. A flat, sexless crotch under the briefs, like the devs were scared of a penis. Women get the tits, the ass, the whole pinup mesh. One sex is a product. The other got neutered in the character creator. That’s not design. That’s contempt.

However, although Aion 2 offers such a rich array of options for creating female characters, some players have begun to complain that the development team has not given male characters an equivalent level of attention.
