It’s been a while since we’ve reported on graphics card price statistics, so many people are probably curious—compared to the past few months, have GPU prices stabilized, or even become cheaper? The bad news is the answer is no, and recently there have even been continuous reports that NVIDIA and AMD are both planning to raise graphics card prices. According to recent statistics from foreign media, not only have RTX 50 series prices failed to stabilize, they’ve been climbing steadily. Over the past two months, price increases at US retail channels have reached as high as 39%, and this isn’t just a single isolated model—nearly all RTX 50 series models have gone up in price.

The entire RTX 50 series has seen price increases in the US: the RTX 5070’s median price has surged to $900, 64% above MSRP, while the RTX 5090 is 135% more expensive.

A few days ago, Tom’s Hardware GPU analyst Jeffrey Kampman published a statistics piece. He said he nearly spat out his coffee when checking Newegg’s Blackwell GPU prices that morning. He’d assumed that compared to the crazy price surges for RAM and SSDs over the past few months, GPUs wouldn’t be as extreme—but this quick check proved him wrong.

He scraped all the listed prices for each graphics card that could be found online, then took the median rather than the cheapest one, so the price best reflects the current market conditions.

The following is a comparison of the median prices for the full RTX 50 series on Newegg in June and August 2026, with the last column showing the difference from NVIDIA’s official MSRP:

Model Official MSRP Mid-June 2026 median price Median price in August 2026 Two-month increase higher than MSRP
GeForce RTX 5050 $249 $299.99 $314.99 +5% +27%
GeForce RTX 5060 $299 $369.99 $469.99 +27% +57%
GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB $379 $469.99 $529.99 +13% +40%
GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB $429 $569.99 $804.99 +39% +88%
GeForce RTX 5070 $549 $659.99 $899.99 +36% +64%
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti $749 $1,099.99 $1,099.99 flat +47%
GeForce RTX 5080 $999 $1,461.99 $1,499.99 +3% +50%
GeForce RTX 5090 $1,999 $4,299.99 $4,699.99 +9% +135%

From the table above, it’s clear that the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB saw the biggest increase. In just two months, it jumped from $569.99 to $804.99, a 39% rise. Compared to the $429 launch MSRP, that’s already 88% higher, almost double the original price. Tom’s Hardware also noted in its report that even at $579.99, this card already felt too expensive to recommend to gamers—and now it’s at this price.

Next up is the RTX 5070, whose median price has also risen from $659.99 to $899.99 — a 36% increase, and 64% above its $549 MSRP. This card was previously one of the few gaming cards priced close to its official MSRP, but at the $900 mark, it’s now nearly matching the more powerful RTX 5070 Ti, which also has 16GB of VRAM.

The RTX 5070 is now $200 more expensive than it was a year ago. The best time to have bought a video card or memory… was yesterday.

The entry-level RTX 5060 is in a pretty ridiculous spot right now—its median price is $469.99, which is actually more than the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB’s launch price of $429.99. So the lower-tier card is now selling for more than the higher-tier RTX 5060 Ti 16GB cost at release.

Taiwan is of course no exception. The image below is a quick check I did while writing this article on the price of the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. This ASUS card was NT$19,490 in early August, and now it’s NT$25,590, an increase of 31.3%:

Mid-to-high-end cards look like they haven’t risen much, but that’s actually normal, because these GPUs have already gone up too much. The RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 were already far above MSRP back in June, and the RTX 5090 is the most extreme, sitting 135% above MSRP—the largest gap of any RTX 50-series model.

More importantly, memory is still in severe shortage, and with AI computing power demand surging, the price rally doesn’t seem to be over yet. Players should be mentally prepared for that.

As for AMD, it likely won’t escape price increases either. Recently leaked documents also indicate that AMD is raising the suggested retail prices of the Radeon RX 9000 series in China, with increases ranging from 5% to 20%:

Model number Standardized MSRP (RMB / approx. USD) Q3 SEP Guide Price (RMB / Approx. USD) increase; rise; gain
Radeon RX 9070 XT 5,599(≈$830) 6,999(≈$1,037) +20.01%
Radeon RX 9070 5,199(≈$770) 5,599(≈$830) +7.14%
Radeon RX 9070 GRE 3,999(≈$592) 4,599(≈$680) +13.05%
Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB 3,599(≈$533) 4,299(≈$637) +16.28%
Radeon RX 9060 XT 8GB 2,699(≈$400) 3,099(≈$459) +12.91%
Radeon RX 7650 GRE 2,359(≈$350) 2,499(≈$370) +5.60%
