Recently, we finally got the answer. Intel officially confirmed that Core Ultra 9 290K Plus will definitely not be launched. At the same time, the long-rumored Core Ultra 9 285K Special Edition (285KS) has also been confirmed to be cancelled.

According to foreign media Tom’s Hardware According to reports, Intel has confirmed to PC Games Hardware that the Core Ultra 9 290K Plus has been canceled and will not be launched in the future. This means that the previous benchmark data and specifications rumors have not reached the step of official mass production.
However, Intel did not explain the reason for the cancellation. It is certain that there will be no 290K Plus in the future. Players do not have to wait any longer. The Arrow Lake Refresh desktop version is officially launched in only three models: Ultra 7 270K Plus, Ultra 5 250K Plus and 250KF Plus.
In fact, it’s normal to think about it. After all, the previous Core Ultra 9 290K Plus’s Geekbench 6 score was only about 10 to 11% faster than the previous generation 285K, and there was no big breakthrough in performance. If it were really launched, players would be confused as to what to choose, and the pricing would be embarrassing. Rather than squeezing out a flagship that is not convincing enough, it is better to focus the lineup on products with more obvious differences.
What is more surprising is that even the special edition has been cancelled.
