The new sci-fi action game “Man and Machine” developed by Capcom has attracted much attention since its release. After experiencing many delays, the game was finally officially launched on April 17, and successfully received unanimous praise from the media and players. Subsequently, it achieved sales of 1 million units within two days of its launch. For such a brilliant performance, Capcom officials are even more confident, hinting that this game is likely to develop a new series.

At the Iicon symposium held last weekend, Rob Dyer, Chief Operating Officer of Capcom’s U.S. division, talked about Capcom’s global development strategy, and used the success of “Man and Machine” as an example to share Capcom’s internal views on the success of this new IP. He also confirmed that many of the designs of this game refer to the preferences of the “Western market.”

According to him, although Capcom is still mainly produced by Capcom’s Japanese team, they not only adopted the opinions of many American departments during the design process, but also conducted focus tests in the Western market. They also released trial versions on major platforms and conducted large-scale questionnaires.
“They (the Japanese development team) did take a lot of feedback into consideration, and after six full years of continuous development, all the efforts were worth it in the end. We now have another brand-new IP, and even though Capcom already has a rich library of titles, the future development of this new IP is also promising,” said Rob Dyer.

In recent years, Capcom has continued to launch multiple sequels for classic series such as “Evil Dead” and “Monster Hunter”, and has received successful responses, while “Man and Machine” has become a rare original new IP. Even so, the game ultimately managed to gain a warm response from players.
In addition, when talking about the success of this game, Capcom officials also specifically mentioned that the “trial version” released before the launch and the Nintendo Switch 2 version launched a week apart have brought good momentum to “Man-Machine Network”, and this can be said to be a very strong start for a new IP.

So far, “Man and Machine” has successfully received an average score of 85 points among Metacritic media. As for the Steam platform, it has reached an “overwhelming praise” of 96%. Capcom’s reaction also hints that the story of Hugh and Diana may continue to develop in the future.
