YouTube is one of the most popular video streaming services. It has rich and diverse content for you to click and watch. If you are not averse to ads, you can watch it without any charge. YouTube sometimes delivers information about new features, special events, and terms changes through your registered account email. However, if you see an email from YouTube in your inbox recently, be more careful because it is likely to be a malicious phishing attempt.

This is not the first time that this problem has arisen, but for matters involving personal rights and interests, it is indeed important to remind people to raise their awareness of prevention. According to vidIQ’s sharing, it explains in detail how this scam works. Users will receive an email from “no-reply@youtube” that looks like an official letter and asks the recipient to click on a link in the email. This link directs users to a private video of “YouTube Creators”. The video will tell you to view the video introduction, and then the introduction will ask you to click on a link that says it is a policy update, and provide you with a “special code.” It ends up pointing you to a fake DocuSign web page, which is blurry and asks you to enter the special code mentioned earlier, and then attempts to download a malicious .exe file.

🚨ALERT: Dangerous YouTube scam going around.

One creator almost lost their 500k subs channel.

Here’s exactly how it works:

1. You get email from “no-reply@youtube”
2. Links to private video from “YouTube Creators”
3. Video tells you to check description
4. Description has… pic.twitter.com/lOA5mTdp3Z

A similar incident occurred in December last year, when a negligent creator lost the account he had worked diligently for many years with just a few clicks. If you are not sure whether some content on the Internet is safe or not and whether it comes from the official website, the best way to deal with it is to ignore the request and close it directly, or even stop reading. Please stay vigilant and take precautions when clicking on any links. I hope everyone can have a comfortable and secure online experience.
