People use AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini for many reasons, one of which is for educational learning. Google has added a new feature to the Gemini app that provides students who use the bot to understand science and math concepts with a better learning experience, making the application of AI in education more beneficial.

Google adds support for interactive images in Gemini to help students visually explore complex academic concepts. Unlike static text and images, students can interact with scientific images and diagrams by clicking on different parts. For example, students can click on a specific part of the digestive system or a cell to open an interactive panel with detailed explanations, definitions, and more content to explore. They can also type queries like “What are the parts of a plant cell?” to get more detailed information.
After generating images and related explanations, users can further click the “Explore” button to open an interactive user interface. This feature allows students to gain an in-depth understanding of various subtopics and ask follow-up questions, satisfying students’ burgeoning curiosity. This further supplements the learning capabilities already available in the generative AI chatbot, such as the ability to generate cognitive cards, practice quizzes, and customized study plans.
Google saysBy enabling interaction with images, Gemini is transforming learning from passive viewing into active exploration. Gemini can handle interactive visuals across subjects including biology, physics, chemistry, and math.
Speaking of images, Google has also updated its generative AI chatbot to detect whether images are AI-generated. It added support for Google’s latest image generation model, Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image), which combines reasoning with practical knowledge to produce more accurate images than before. Google also recently updated the Gemini app, launching the flagship Gemini 3 Pro, which topped the LMArena leaderboard with a record-breaking 1501 Elo score, surpassing OpenAI’s GPT 5.1 and Claude Sonnet 4.5.
