As the Christmas holidays, so important in Western countries, quickly approach, now is the perfect time to start planning—whether you’re looking to visit family or just dreaming about next year’s vacation. Google’s latest AI upgrades let search handle some of the heavy lifting, with new AI-powered features that help users craft the perfect itinerary, find the best deals, and turn plans into bookings.

Google Search has added new travel-related features in AI mode.
Canvas is a tool in Google Search’s AI Mode that gives you space to organize plans and projects over time. Now, you can use Canvas to create travel plans tailored to your specific needs—just tell AI Mode the type of trip you’re planning, the recommendations you want, and then select Create Canvas. This feature is now available to users in the US participating in the Labs AI Mode experiment.

You can immediately see a plan in the Canvas sidebar that integrates real-time flight and hotel search information, Google Maps details (such as photos and reviews), and relevant information from websites across the web. From there, you can find recommendations that match your criteria, such as hotel comparisons based on price and amenities, or restaurant and activity suggestions optimized for travel time from where you’re staying. To refine the plan and make it your own, you can ask follow-up questions and get help with trade-offs—for example, choosing a hotel closer to brunch spots but slightly farther from hiking trails. If you want to take a break, you can always click on AI mode history to return and pick up where you left off.

Earlier this year, Google launched a new AI tool called Flight Deals within Google Flights in the United States, Canada, and India. Now Google announcedExpand this tool globally. Flight Deals is designed for on-the-go backpackers, helping travelers quickly find affordable destinations and save money on their next trip. To get started, simply describe where, when, and how you want to travel as if chatting with a friend. Flight Deals uses AI to understand your needs and surfaces the best deals.
Flight Deals has begun rolling out in more than 200 countries and territories globally, including the UK, France, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea, and supports over 60 languages. Google said that in the future it will continue to work with partners to bring flight and hotel bookings directly into AI Mode. After searching for flights and hotels and asking follow-up questions to refine your options, you can complete your booking without leaving AI Mode.

In addition, Google is also expanding the agent capabilities of AI Mode to benefit more users. AI Mode can help take some work off your hands by helping you find restaurant reservations, event tickets, and health appointments across multiple platforms. Based on the preferences you mention, this feature puts together a list of recommendations with direct links so you can complete bookings from there. Restaurant agent booking is currently rolling out gradually to AI Mode users based in the US. Meanwhile, Labs users in the US are currently being offered agent booking services for event tickets and local appointments.
