As the market AI More and more browsers are appearing, Perplexity’s Comet is now open to everyone, and Google has finally started catching up, as it announced earlier. Chrome Bringing the biggest update ever, it introduces 10 brand-new AI tools. In addition to Gemini, which has already been in testing, there is the highly anticipated “AI agent” feature. However, it hasn’t been rolled out globally yet and is only available to users in certain countries, meaning Taiwan can’t use these features for now.

Google announced on its official blog: “We are currently integrating Google AI into multiple layers of Chrome.” The Google AI mentioned here is, of course, Gemini. It’s already known that Chrome will have 10 new AI features, all of which can help users quickly understand more complex information and even anticipate their needs.
1. Chrome’s built-in Gemini AI
First, the most basic Gemini AI. This feature was previously in beta testing, but at the time it was limited to Google AI paid subscribers. Now it appears to be fully open.
Starting today, Mac and Windows desktop Chrome in the US are getting the Gemini in Chrome feature. As long as your language is set to English, you can ask Gemini to summarize or get information from any webpage at any time. Mobile devices don’t have it yet, but Google has confirmed it will be rolled out there too. Android will get it first, with the ability to activate Gemini by long-pressing the power button, and iOS Chrome will follow later.
2. AI Agent Mode Officially Debuts
Over the next few months, Gemini in Chrome will also support an “agent” feature. Just like other AI agent services, all you need to do is tell Gemini in natural language what task you want to complete, and Gemini will automatically operate on the webpage—such as booking a haircut or buying daily necessities. Of course, you can take over or interrupt at any time.
3. Better tab management
Gemini in Chrome can also process content from multiple tabs at once, such as comparing webpage A and webpage B and summarizing information. For example, if you’re currently planning a trip and have multiple webpages open, you can ask Gemini to help integrate the flights, hotel reservations, and itinerary into a single table.
4. Find web pages you’ve browsed before
Previously, if you wanted to reopen a webpage you had browsed a few days earlier, you had to dig through your history, which was very time-consuming. With the introduction of Gemini, you can now simply ask Gemini: “Which website was that RTX 5090 graphics card promotion I saw last week?” and Gemini will automatically find it for you from your history.
5. Use Google apps without switching tabs
Gemini in Chrome also integrates deeply with multiple Google services, such as Google Calendar, YouTube, Maps, and more. For example, you can ask Gemini to find a specific clip in a YouTube video you want to watch, and the AI will search and provide the results for you.
6. Use AI search mode directly in the address bar
The Chrome address bar can directly use Google Search’s AI mode, which is pretty convenient. However, it’s not available yet — it’s expected to roll out later this month first in the US English version, then expand to more countries.
7. Ask questions about the current webpage to learn more.
In addition to AI mode, the address bar also supports asking questions about the entire page. Chrome will suggest questions based on the content and provide an AI Overview, so you can get more information without leaving the page.
8. Use Gemini Nano to combat more sophisticated scams
Google is also using AI to strengthen Chrome’s security. The “Safe Browsing Enhanced Protection Mode” already uses Gemini Nano to identify tech support scams, and will later expand protection to more scam websites, such as fake virus alerts and fake lottery scams.
9. Reduce notifications and unnecessary permissions
Chrome can now also detect spam or scam notifications and provide unsubscribe options. For permission requests, Chrome uses AI to predict whether you would agree, and presents them in a less intrusive way.
10. One-click change for leaked passwords
I think this is quite good. In the future, if a password is found to have been leaked, AI will become a “password agent,” offering a one-click password change feature. For now, it initially supports platforms like Coursera, Spotify, Duolingo, H&M, and others.
All of these features require Gemini to power them, which means only users in the US get early access for now. As for other countries, like Taiwan, it’s still unclear when they’ll roll out, but I’m guessing we won’t have to wait too long.
