Apple’s unannounced new Bluetooth headphones revealed in FCC filings

A new document recently appeared in the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database, revealing that Apple is preparing to launch an undisclosed Bluetooth headset product. Although the contents of the document are restricted by a confidentiality agreement, it still provides enough clues to trigger outside speculation.

Apple’s unannounced new Bluetooth headphones revealed in FCC filings

according to MacRumors According to reports, this newly exposed FCC document lists an unpublished device with the model number A3577. In the “Device Under Test (DUT) Information” field, the document describes it as a “Bluetooth headset” and points out that the device has basic hardware configurations such as “built-in battery, microphone and antenna.” The document is also marked “Prepared for Apple Inc.” and includes Apple’s official address, indicating that this is indeed a product submitted for testing by Apple.

However, the FCC document does not reveal any appearance, function or positioning information, and most details are still confidential, so it is still unclear whether this headset belongs to the AirPods series or Apple’s Beats brand. Part of what makes this issue difficult to sort out is that Apple hasn’t established clearly separate model naming conventions for the two brands.

Apple’s headphone products usually use the “A####” format model, and this format is also used by Beats. For example, the AirPods Max 2 model number is A3454, the AirPods Max (USB‑C version) is A3184, and the original AirPods Max is A2096. But Beats’ products also follow the same format: Beats Studio Pro’s model number in the FCC is A2924, while Powerbeats Pro 2 are registered as A3157 (left ear), A3158 (right ear) and A3160 (charging box). Since the model rules of the two brands completely overlap, the brand affiliation cannot be inferred from the number A3577 alone.

It is worth noting that Apple has just launched the new generation of AirPods Max 2, so the possibility of updating the AirPods series again in the short term is relatively low. Based on product rhythm and market conditions, it is generally believed that this document is more likely to be related to the next headphone in the Beats series. The current Beats headphone product line includes Beats Studio Pro, launched in July 2023, and Beats Solo 4, which will be launched in April 2024. Both have been for some time, and there is a real possibility that the update cycle will expire.

While FCC filings don’t directly reveal a product’s final appearance or functionality, it often represents a product entering its final stages before being marketed. In other words, whether A3577 ultimately belongs to AirPods or Beats, this headset should not be far away from its official debut. In the next few weeks or months, whether Apple will announce this mysterious headset on its official website, press release or conference will become the focus of attention in the technology circle.
