Google’s app NotebookLM is indeed one of the best ways the company uses AI. NotebookLM is self-contained and always based on the resources you provide, which means it won’t generate fabricated information or simply tell you what you want to know—but that’s not why NotebookLM has recently attracted so much attention.
NotebookLM could soon turn your notes into videos.
What truly makes it stand out is the Audio Overviews feature, which can automatically generate an AI-powered two-person podcast based on your sources in just minutes. The two hosts discuss your material in an engaging and relaxed way, and it’s even hard to tell that the podcast was generated by AI. But audio is just the beginning—according to reports, Google is working on adding a Video Overview feature to NotebookLM.
On X, @TestingCatalogNews shared that he discovered Google is currently developing a video overview feature for NotebookLM. According to the uploaded image, you can see a new Video Overview button appearing in the Studio panel.

This feature may be powered by Google’s Veo 2 video generation model, which Google claims can generate high-quality videos on various themes and styles. At the same time, the company said the AI video generator’s understanding of real-world physics and human motion and expressions has been enhanced, helping produce highly realistic videos without strange visual effects. It can also generate video clips several minutes long. NotebookLM’s Audio Overview sometimes reaches 1 hour, so it’s uncertain whether Video Overview will replace them or enhance them by adding visual narrative effects.
The Studio panel that includes this feature also seems to have undergone minor UI improvements. In the image shared by TestingCatalog, the panel shows the following four options: Audio Overview, Video Overview, Mind Map, and Reports. However, the current Studio panel includes an audio overview and a notes section containing study guides, introductory documents, FAQs, and a timeline; all these four features should now be integrated into the Reports option mentioned above.
An Editor’s Picks section was also discovered on NotebookLM’s homepage, which may highlight notebooks publicly shared by other users—an exciting change that could transform the tool into a knowledge-sharing platform in addition to serving as your research assistant.
However, the timing of when these features were discovered is not surprising. Google I/O 2025 is right around the corner, and NotebookLM recently shared a post on its X account teasing something exciting planned for this year’s event. Audio Overview was unveiled during Google I/O in 2024, so it’s highly likely that Video Overview will also be officially announced on that date.
