Not sure if it’s a disaster. Recently, a KrisFix repair shop in Germany said on its YouTube channel that they received nearly 50 repair cases for AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards. After taking them apart, they found that the GPU chip inside was damaged. It was very strange that there were so many repair cases in less than a month. The real reason is still unclear. However, these users have all upgraded to the latest driver, so they speculated that it may be related to the driver.

AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics card GPU chip is mysteriously damaged, and foreign repair shops have received dozens of cases
KrisFix, a German repair store, has received 61 repair cases for AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards in the past three weeks, all of which are Radeon RX 6900 and RX 6800 series. The GPU chips of 48 graphics cards have been damaged. This is the first time in his maintenance career that he has seen so many GPUs damaged but cannot find the cause. Therefore, he recently uploaded a video on his YouTube channel to ask AMD users if they have encountered any problems with upgrading the driver. The graphics card hangs up.
The GPU chip was severely damaged and completely cracked:

In the video, he also shared that during the inspection, not only the GPU chips of these AMD Radeon RX 6900 and RX 6800 series graphics cards were damaged, but the SOC rails were also short-circuited. After asking the users, there was nothing special in common. Some said that they were just playing games, watching YouTube videos, etc., and some even did not use them. The graphics cards were mysteriously broken like this. The only thing in common is that all the graphics cards were upgraded to those in December last year. 22.11.2 (WHQL), so I was wondering if it was caused by the driver.

However, many AMD Radeon RX 6000 series users should have upgraded to the 22.11.2 driver. There have not been a large number of disasters reported around the world. Only Germany received 48, so it is basically unlikely. In any case, if you haven’t upgraded yet, you can hold off for a while and see if there are more recent cases before making a decision. It will be safer.
In addition, it is not sure whether the RX 6800 / RX 6900 series graphics cards sent for repair this time are AIB cards. The ones shown in the video are AMD MBA designs. AMD has yet to respond.

In any case, for AMD Radeon RX 6000 series users, there is no need to panic too much and just use it normally. After all, the driver was launched in December and it has been a month. Only this store in Germany has encountered this situation for such a long time. No users have come forward to report on Reddit or some hardware forums abroad. The probability of individual cases is relatively high.
In addition to this, in the recent Windows 11 22H2 December update, there are also reports that some AMD computers have some problems, which will affect daily use and work. If you use an AMD processor, you can click here to read the full report:
