in previous Core™ i9-13900K and Core™ i5-13600K In the evaluation report, due to space limitations, we cannot introduce the test platform we used, so I will quickly share it in this article. If you are planning to upgrade the host or build a new computer, but don’t know which hardware to choose, you can refer to it.

i9-13900K & i5-13600K test platform quick sharing

Motherboard: MSI MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI

The motherboard we chose is MSI’s MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI, which is a very top motherboard in the Z790 platform. It is impeccable in terms of material, thermal design, overclocking, and expandability. It also supports Intel Wi-Fi 6E wireless network:

There are eight major features:

  1. 19+1+1 item VRM power supply
  2. Cooling dual-sided M.2 Shield Frozr and enlarged heatsink design
  3. LIGHTNING GEN 5 / M.2 GEN 5
  4. Support Wi-Fi 6E / Bluetooth 5.2 technology
  5. Excellent heat dissipation design
  6. One-click overclocking
  7. Audio Boost 5
  8. 2.5G LAN

Motherboard and Wi-Fi antenna included. The motherboard is designed with carbon fiber. The motherboard is all black. The heat dissipation part is really good. For example, there is an enlarged heat sink on the top that uses a direct-contact heat pipe and a 7W/mK MOSFET cooling pad. There is an M.2 Shield Frozr and an enlarged heat sink on the bottom. It supports up to DDR5 7600+ MHz memory (OC):

The M.2 Shield Frozr can be easily removed without tools, which is very convenient. There are a total of 5 M.2 slots, which are definitely enough for you. They all support 2280/2260, and one of them can also hold 22110. SATA 6G transmission ports also have up to 6:

There is an LED display on the upper right that displays hardware error codes and CPU temperature:

On the back I/O side, there are three buttons on the top, namely “Smart Button”, “Flash BIOS Button” and “Clear CMOS Button”. There are also 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 Type A, 6 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type A, 1 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C and 1 USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type C. The two round holes below are for Wi-Fi antennas:

The bottom of the Wi-Fi antenna is a magnet, which just fits the top of my console. I love this:

MSI Center can monitor real-time CPU, RAM, fans and other hardware information:

Provides many functions and can be installed according to your own needs:

Memory: G.SKILL TRIDENT Z5 DDR5-5600 16Gx2

Raptor Lake supports up to DDR5-5600 memory. We chose TRIDENT Z5 DDR5-5600 16Gx2 launched by G.SKILL. It has an RGB light design on the top and is equipped with aluminum alloy heat sink fins. Each set has built-in high-performance IC and high-quality materials, which can take into account both overclocking performance and stability:

Of course, it also supports Intel XMP, and it looks pretty good, available in black and white:

The test results with i9-13900K reached 86792MB/s for reading, 78895MB/s for writing, and 80082MB/s for copying:

Hard drive: SPATIUM M480 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2TB

M.2 hard drives also choose the SPATIUM M480 series launched by MSI. This is one of the fastest among all products currently, boasting read speeds of up to 7000MB/s and write speeds of up to 6800MB/s. It has five major data storage security technologies and provides a 5-year warranty:

  1. Trim active garbage collection
  2. S.M.A.R.T automatic fault detection
  3. LDPC ECC automatic error correction
  4. E2E point-to-point data protection
  5. AES256 advanced encryption

I tested that the reading and writing speed is indeed so high, almost the same as the official maximum speed:

Water cooling: Phanteks Glacier One 360MPH

The heat dissipation is the Phanteks Glacier One all-in-one water-cooled radiator. This series has three types: 240MPH, 280MPH and 360MPH. We use the 360MPH with RGB light design:

The contents include a water cooling radiator, three fans and installation accessories. The installation is quite easy, even a novice can install it easily:

Paired with the i9-13900K processor, the temperature can be kept between 30 and 40 degrees in standby mode, and only between 50 and 60 degrees when playing games. The heat dissipation effect is very good.

RGB lights are quite cool:

Power supply: Seasonic PRIME TX-1300

In order to facilitate future upgrades, we chose the larger 1300W power supply, PRIME TX-1300 launched by Seasonic, which has passed 80 PLUS PLATINUM certification:

The fully modular cables are all black, and the connectors will indicate what hardware they are connected to, such as: PCIE, SATA, CPU, etc., so you don’t have to worry about making the wrong connection:

Modular slots, CPU/PCI-E are all 8 holes, IDE/SATA/Molex are all 6 holes, so there will be no wrong connections here:

HYBRID MODE button available with Premium Hybrid Fan Control technology, fanless to 40% load:

Dust bags are also provided for convenient storage:

Graphics card: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

The RTX 3080 Ti graphics card launched by EVGA also has an RGB light design on the side of the line, which can be controlled through EVGA software. Unfortunately, EVGA has announced its withdrawal from the GPU market:
