Android Auto has a bug that prevents the turntable control from working properly on Google Maps

If Android Auto, which can only be used after Android 8.0 or higher, is suddenly raised to a minimum system limit, people will shout “Old phones have no human rights.” So, if you suddenly find that Android Auto does not allow normal control on a non-touch screen car, will you also silently wonder, is it possible that even old cars have encountered a similar situation?
Fortunately, it seems that this (should) not be another restriction imposed by Google on the car system – because for the time being, there are simple ways to troubleshoot the problem.

Recently, an Android Auto user reported on the Reddit forum that when using the car’s turntable to operate a non-touch screen car, the Google Maps app will no longer be able to be operated through the turntable. In this regard, owners of Mazda 3 in 2018 reported that they encountered similar problems (also encountered by BMW owners with similar configurations), and even when used with the latest Pixel 7 Pro, they still encountered the problem of operation failure.
However, they also found that if they force-close Google Maps, they can operate the carousel normally again. In short, this is probably a software support issue (right).

It seems that this situation was discovered after the latest Android Auto update – after all, Google Maps should be an app that many people open every day. It is said that as long as Google Maps is opened as a large UI component, the turntable control will be locked and cannot be used. That is to say, there are also people who are trying to fix the bug in the Google Maps app through trial and error. It is said that downgrading to the older 11.28.7 version can also be solved. As for the Android Auto versions where this occurs, it includes v8.3 and v8.5.
During the discussion, some people believed that this bug had actually been reported before. However, this report seems to have not been resolved in the future. I don’t know if Google will fix this problem as soon as possible since so many people have reported it this time.
