With the sharp decline in graphics cards, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series is about to be released. I believe many players are waiting to pick up a cheap graphics card. However, if you are currently using a GTX 1080 Ti, you will only set the 1080p image quality when playing games. In fact, there is no need to change it, because this card still performs very well in the 1080p image quality setting of most well-known games today, no worse than some new graphics cards, and you can continue to fight.

GTX 1080 Ti continues the fight! With 1080p image quality, this is still one of the most powerful gaming graphics cards today.

Every year recently, foreign media TechSpot will test this once-famous GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card, which was launched 5 years ago to see how it performs when playing well-known games and whether it can handle the same load.

They tested a total of 50 well-known games, including many AAA masterpieces. This article only lists a few for your reference. For more complete content, you can click on the link at the end of the article to jump to the Techspot website to read. For comparison, they take the RTX 3060, which costs less than $400, and the AMD Radeon RX 5700XT. The test platform used is as follows:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzeon 7 5800X3D
  • Memory: 32GB DDR4-3200 CL14

The first is “Assassin’s Mission 3”. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti performs quite well at 1080p, with an average of 112 FPS. Although it is slower than the 5700XT and RTX 3060, there is only a 12%~16% gap. In terms of gameplay, there is almost no big difference. 1440p average FPS is also over 60:

“All Out: Warhammer III” is even more amazing. The GTX 1080 Ti is no worse than the other two cards in either 1080p or 1440p. So if you mainly play this game, there is almost no need to change, because you need about 400 US dollars to buy the new RTX 3060:

Although “Cyberpunk 2077” mentioned poor performance in the Techspot article, it also has an average of 84 FPS in 1080p, and is only 15% slower than the RTX 3060, which is acceptable. What’s more special is that this card seems to be better in 1440p image quality, and the gap with RTX 3060 and RX 5700XT has been shortened:

In “Forza Horizon 5”, although the GTX 1080 Ti loses a lot to the RX 5700 XT, its performance is similar to the RTX 3060, whether it is 1080p or 1440p:

An interesting result emerged after integrating 50 games, that is, the 1080p quality GTX 1080 Ti is actually 3% faster than the RTX 3060. This is really amazing:

Compared with the RX 5700 XT, it is not much worse. It is only 3% slower on average in 1080p quality:

So, even after 5 years, the GTX 1080 Ti is still very powerful. If you are using this one now, there is no need to rush to get a new graphics card. Of course, that’s another matter if you want to play new games in 2K or 4K quality settings. Techspot also does not recommend buying a new generation of high-end graphics cards.
