Although it seems that the pace of the public beta of iOS 16 is much more stable than that of iPadOS. However, it was not until the moment before the official launch of the update on 9/13 that I discovered that the first wave on iOS actually still had some features, which had not yet been officially provided to developers or even users who joined the public beta to try. It also means that unless there are any big surprises in the official version, some features will still be missing.
Foreign media Macworld has compiled the feature updates that the official version of iOS 16 is currently expected to have to wait until later this year. Basically, it seems to be the most impressive, like the lock screen function experience of the Apple Watch interface, which can basically be played in the version that will be updated next. However, the latest “Live Activities” notification function in the lock screen experience has not been launched yet.
In addition, the “iCloud Shared Photo Library” function that makes it more convenient for families to share photos with each other, that is, the integration function that allows users to automatically transfer to the library directly through the camera interface, may have to wait until iOS 16.1 or even iOS 16.2 to have the opportunity to use it.
Interestingly, the satellite SOS emergency alarm function that is currently limited to the iPhone 14 series models is said to be not officially ready for the iOS system yet – it is not available in Taiwan anyway, so it should be fine. As for the rest of the system, it is currently known that iPadOS will be delayed until version 16.1 before the official version is released. Even the Freeform app real-time collaboration space, which should have more room for play on the iPad, has not yet started testing?
Regarding the Matter support part of the Apple Home family system ecosystem, it is reported that it has not yet been provided in the Home app of iOS 16, but the new interface will still be provided to users of the entire Apple ecosystem. Finally, Game Center can also perform SharePlay fun through FaceTime video chat, but it is currently expected to be available later.
I have to say that although it is a bit disappointing that some new features cannot be played all at once, it may also reduce some of the urge to upgrade. However, being able to test the functions in stages before releasing them is a decision based on stability considerations, right? I wonder if everyone will officially update iOS 16 tomorrow? Or is it that as the official version is about to be launched, a relatively stable test version has already been installed?
